Is there a reason you replied to me with that? Your whole post is stuff that I already knew about. I didn’t say anything about a FF7 remake, and I know all the reasons about why they’re doing sequels and iOS games, and that we won’t be seeing Versus this year.

But thanks for posting for those that didn’t know, I guess.

I’ve said this many times: Since S-E is not working on FF VII remake, Versus is their final Ace card, meaning, if Versus flops, that’s it for S-E since FF XIV nearly flopped (and still isn’t even fully out yet).

They lost a ton of money on that game, from the loss in revenue from not publishing a PS3 version, to a full year of not charging anyone subscription fees, to the loss in revenue from people dropping the game altogether AFTER they started charging subscription fees, to the loss in budget pool money from the sheer costs of revamping the game altogether to try to save it, to however much money they’ve lost in stocks or investors etc.

All these sequels are in their minds, necessary cash ins to help replenish lost funds and budget from remaking FF XIV.
And any news of Versus would absolutely kill any buzz or hype for XIII LR, XIV or even DQ X Wii U. So everytime S-E announced a XIII sequel, Versus got pushed back once again in the background because of that and also because they simply do not want to release all these games under one fiscal year to avoid sales cannibalism

To do that, they’d have to transport all their current work from the Crystal Tools engine to the Luminous Engine. That would be a ton of work. It’d be the equivalent of remaking FFXII (what’s it run on? Maya?) to Crystal Tools engine for PS3 with all new rendered backgrounds and character models

Impossible. The game is open world and too big. It’s not like Skyrim or Fallout which can fit on one disc. It has the uncompressed 1080p FMV as well and don;t forget the linear episodic chapter hallway fest that was FF XIII had to be split into 3 discs on the 360 with battle transitions. Versus will be real time no battle transitions….

I’m sorry, when did I ever curse at you? All I added to my final post was “But I’m done now” you shouldn’t be offended so easily. I was referring to your post which you seemed to edit where you called me a “Lightning fanboy” and a minority. Rather than at least discussing it further.

I understand there’s a much bigger fanbase, but it doesn’t apply since they are separate. There’s a lot of factors in this is what I’m trying to say. We don’t know when any of those titles will release either. B4 is unannounced, Watch_Dogs doesn’t have a release date afaik and Madden and FIFA have different fanbases. What I mean is, mostly, different people buying different games. So they don’t really collide nor do we know the exact release date.

I’m just saying sales in general Battlefield 3 sold over 7 million by December of 2011. COD can easily reach 10 million in a month. FIFA 13 average 4.1 million in one month just on PS3 & 360 in a month. Madden can sale 2 million in just a month. Watch_Dogs we don’t know we will have to see but just the amount of views it has on Ubisoft channel and the positive feedback it looks like it can sale just about the same as a Assassin’s Creed game in a month. It has taken FF XIII-3 within a years time to reach 3.2 million and that’s with shipped not what actually sold.

I understand the frustration. It’s probably just a good idea to try and not think about it too much now. Like, just forget about Final Fantasy for a while and ignore Lightning Returns. Because it just seems like the less you hear about Versus and the more you hear about LR and other SE projects like iOS games will make you more angry/frustrated.

I’ve come to accept that Final Fantasy likely won’t ever reach the same heights as it did all those years ago, and probably won’t be the same again. The less I hype about their games, the more chance I’ll have of being taken for surprise and enjoying them. We all want Versus, but with the number of years it’s been going on for, it’s never going to live up to its expectations. A lot of that is the fault of SE for delaying it for so long, but there will be a lot of disappointed fans when it arrives, that’s for sure. So I think it’s best for fans to now try to take it easy and not get so attached to things. It only seems to make them more angry if they don’t like what’s going on right now (i.e. LRFF13).
