VanillaWare-developed action RPG to receive "complete relocalization."

Aksys Games is bringing the PlayStation Vita version of Oboro Muramasa to North America as Muramasa Rebirth, the publisher has announced.

The PlayStation Vita update includes high-resolution graphics, enhanced controls, and a “complete relocalization” different from the previous Wii version, which was published by Ignition Entertainment in 2009.

The game will offer two stories, additional download content character scenarios, and the ability to create new weapons and build an inventory of up to 108 blades, each with its own special ability.

A release date was not announced. Visit the game’s official website here. View some new artwork and logo-related assets at the gallery.

ooooooh, a new localization. awesome. :D

  • Eclipse

Excellent news. I never had the chance to play this on the Wii, so I’m sure I’m in for a treat! I hope the DLC for those bonus characters will be also be available for purchase.

    • Haku_Luvs_You

Wii game is terrific! This game is very good :)

      • Eclipse

        That’s good to know. ^_^
I’ve only heard good things about this game.

    one for my vita library

  • KurisuMakise

    In Aksys we trust, amen.

  • MrKappa

Never played the game on Wii cause I didn’t have the time then I heard it was badly localized so this proper rerelease is good for me. I doubt Aksys will do as bad as IE did but I hope they don’t get too goofy like they do with Blazblue.

Glad they changed the name from “The Demon Blade.” I’m not sure if they could’ve kept it, anyhow, given it was Ignition’s localized title (but then again, I’m not even sure if Ignition exists anymore). I’d initially wanted them to keep Oboro Muramasa, but Muramasa Rebirth sounds pretty cool, as well. I approve!

How is rebirth better than ‘The Demon Blade.’

Actually, how is almost anything better than ‘The Demon Blade.’

      that name is certified badass.

      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Eh, I dunno. Rebirth flows better, I think. The Demon Blade makes it sound as if it’s a definition of the word Muramasa.

This one’s just like, “MURAMASA REBIRTH. Back again to kick some ass.”

      • ShinAsura

It’s a better name cause we’re getting extra content the Wii version didn’t get, they’re re-birthing the series for VITA fans

        MURAMASA FUKATSU, TO KA

Or would you rather have Muramasa Revolution -_-

        • rockman29

You guys are all pansies lmao, Rebirth :P

  • Solomon_Kano

So happy. I didn’t have a Wii, so Aksys definitely has my money on this one.

    • z_merquise

This is one of the reasons why I bought a Wii before. But now, I’m happy for this announcement and I won’t mind double-dipping. I more preferred playing this in a portable console.

  • ShinAsura

Sweet, Ill have both versions then

As if “get a goddamn Vita” wasn’t beaten over my head enough times.

    (ironically not a bad thing)

  • DrForbidden

    Finally! Some good news….

  • PrinceHeir

    YES!!!!!!!!

i still have my Wii copy laying around.

i wonder why the ported this game to PS Vita and not 3DS?

    can’t wait either way!!

will the game also have dual audio like the original Wii release? :P

    • http://www.facebook.com/MiLk.ChoCo.LeN Hikaru Lighthalzen

they already said that they port it to vita because of OLED :D

      • PrinceHeir

        though why no 3DS :

        • Solomon_Kano

Well, if the OLED was the sole reason then I’d imagine they chose not to port it to 3DS because the screen isn’t as pretty? I dunno lol. Maybe they didn’t want to do the work of implementing 3D and some functionality for the lower screen?

          • PrinceHeir

ehh either way i just want all platforms to enjoy these games!! :)

            • Solomon_Kano

I’m with you on that. Vanillaware’s work especially is worth being played by everyone.

              • PrinceHeir

                wait i minute.

have i seen you before O____O

                • Solomon_Kano

                  I think so.

You used to post on Siliconera, right?

                  • PrinceHeir

                    ah yeah.

though you did visit andriasang right?? :P

                    • Solomon_Kano

Yep, yep. I used a different name there, though.

                    • PrinceHeir

what was your name if i may ask O____O

                    • Solomon_Kano

Balthier. And I had a Balthier avatar to match. Didn’t really post there all that often.

                    • PrinceHeir

hmm i rarely saw anyone with a balthier there though :P

but yeah i do remember you at siliconera.

and wow you have lots of comments O_____O

                    • Solomon_Kano

                      I talk a lot lol.

  • http://www.facebook.com/MiLk.ChoCo.LeN Hikaru Lighthalzen

    thanks god :3

  • Zackasaur

Awesome! The Vita is easily the best platform choice they could have made for this one.

I’m upset with VanillaWare for making us pay an amount of extra cash for the bit of extra content they made on this game, given that it is years old. It should just be included.

  • Blaz

Time to get a vita =D

  • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Yes! They’re keeping the Japanese voices! June replied to a fan’s question whether re-localization means English voices with
“Relocalization means the text will be relocalized (translated and edited) by our own staff.”

    on Aksys’ official page.

Ladies and Gents, we’re in for a gorgeous-looking ride on Vita. Thanks to Aksys and OLED technology =)
