Next Mass Effect due “late 2014 to mid 2015″ [Update]

"Full development on the game started a month or two ago."

Update: The contents of this story are inaccurate. We cited an interview from games website GamerSyndrome, which has removed the interview as it was “from an inaccurate source and NOT an official Bioware or EA” representative. That said, I’m not sure why the interview was published in the first place, but be aware that this Mass Effect news is completely fabricated.

Original: The next Mass Effect game will launch “late 2014 to mid 2015,” BioWare has told GamerSyndrome.

“I honestly can’t tell you an exact because full development on the game started a month or two ago,” the studio said.

Last month, it was announced that BioWare Montreal would helm development on the next Mass Effect.

So is it gonna be for the next gen systems or PS3/360 again?

I’d be really surprised if the 360 is still around then. Microsoft will probably have their next console out by then, I imagine. I’m looking at a Summer 2014 release. As for the PS3… It SHOULD still be active since the “10 year plan” doesn’t end until 2016, but there’s really no way to know for sure.

The 10 year plan means that they will support the system for 10 years, not that it will be here for 10 years then PS4.

But if I had to guess I would think it would be cross-gen, it’ll be on PS3/360 as well as PS4/720

I suppose that’s true, but that just means the PS4 (or whatever it will be called) will be out in 2015 instead since Sony tends to support the console for a year after a new console comes out, then finally stops.

Uhh, I don’t think that’s true? Sony did not impose any such restriction on themselves, at least not publicly. AFAIK, Sony is STILL supporting PS2s…

There’s no real reason to say that they will stop PS3 support a year after the launch of PS4. Personally, I think both companies will launch their next gen consoles late next year.
