Japanese game makers discuss plans for 2013

Famitsu this week features an interview with several Japanese game companies on their plans for 2013. Unfortunately, there is a lack of Atlus teasing Persona 5 for the 10th time. But there are these:

  • Aquaplus: In 2013, there are plans to release one title after another.
  • Aquire: 2013 will continue to bring challenges.
  • Compile Heart / Idea Factory: A new title in a popular series, of course something new that exceeds the imagination, is being prepared.
  • CyberConnect2: 2013 will have Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, Night Runner (tentative), and more.
  • D3 Publisher: 2013 lineup includes Smakare, Storm Lover 2nd, Vitamin Z: Gradation, Vitamin R, Dream Club Host Girl Collection, Dream Club Zero Special Edipyon!, Puzzle Royale, Earth Defense Force 2025, Dream Club New Shop Np5, and Onechanbara Z: Kagura (A re-release? New platforms?).
  • Ganbarion: New projects will be announced.
  • Imageepoch: They are preparing to publish their fourth and fifth titles.
  • SNK Playmore: 2013 will mark a great charge for Metal Slug.
  • Sony Computer Entertainment Japan: 2013 will be a bright new year and they will deliver surprising entertainment to everyone.

        It don’t make it worse either but it’s more pleasant to the eye. I can already see it on crispy cartoony HD graphics.

      Yeah, I would love to see Kagura Z in the PS3. Cute and sexy samurai-vampire in 2-piece bikini and cowboy hat is too hard to pass.

      It’s a decent game except that it’s too short and has some a few game-breaking bugs. Nothing the patch didn’t fix, IIRC. But yeah, if you are fond of the series, you should definitely buy it if they release a PS3 version. The Japanese version is quite import-friendly. I really like the two new lead characters.

          Only as paid DLC characters. I didn’t buy them as it’s a rip-off.

              You hit the nail on the head: They should have been unlockable. The assets are already on the disc in the first place. Charging for it is bullshit, especially considering how short the campaign is.

      It’ll be The Last Guardian, and we can bet that E3 2013 will be Awesome.
      Final Fantasy Versus XIII will most likely get a trailer with a release date for America, and The Last Guardian will also get a release date trailer.

    You got “Acquire” right in the tags, but left out the ‘c’ in the name in the actual post, heh. In any case, I hope Acquire releases a new Wizardry game for PSN or a new installment to Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. for Playstation Vita or PS3.

    Onechanbara Z: Kagura is going to be released on another platform? Perhaps the devs should go back and re-release an IMPROVED version for the Xbox 360 first, seeing how dreadful the game’s performance was (it was either a plethora of screen-tears or combination of both screen-tears and baffling slowdown.) Let’s hope they aren’t crazy enough release more baffling ports of a game that already has serious performance issues. Sure, I would like to have the game released on the PS3 as well but seriously, the Xbox 360 is the platform that these devs are most comfortable with and they managed to dish out a game with such dreadful performance, just imagine what it’ll be like on the PS3 (let’s not forget that devs who are unfamiliar with the PS3 will find developing for the system extremely difficult, and will more than likely to dish out a port that is TWICE as bad.)

      I dunno, I didn’t experience serious issues with the framerate or screen-tearing. Some screen-tearing was visible, and there were a few brief slowdowns in some places, but it far from ruined anything for me. I’ve played other games which were far worse in thoe departments.

    That is as bad and non-committal as a horoscope! What’s the challenge, releasing titles for a system nobody owns?!

      Releasing a title that not only sells millions of copies in the first week but also helps sells thousands of units of the system that the game is released on. Both challenging and dreamy (but ultimately unrealistic.)

    SNK please give me a cel-shaded sequel of Victory Road for PlayStation 3 (what i’ve dreamt for years) graphics of the characters like in the arcade flyer (back in 1987 i used to come across the Victory Road advertisment in a magazine it used to make me stop and admire the artwork it had that affect on me) of Victory Road battling against robot soldiers & human soldiers,huge robot crab (end of level boss) with gun turrets attached to the crab (i think the crab was drawn onto the side of the arcade machine) can block bullets with claw arms.It sadden me greatly how Victory Road turned out after the awesome Ikari (rotary joysticks the good old days) i’m rubbing on the magic lamp like a mad man.Victory Road II please make it so.

    King of Fighters:Maximum Impact 3 (PS3) graphics done how Saisyu Kusanagi is seen in King of Fighters NeoWave artwork.Just a fantasy,it seems like it’s too much of a risk for SNK to take.At this rate they’re be nothing left of the magic lamp.

    Metal slug will be the long rumoured slug sequel with the latest KOF engine.
    Personally i would be excited if snk would decide to give us another last blade and samurai shodown, fatal fury as well.
