A look at Lightning’s new outfit in Lightning Returns

This month’s V-Jump has the first look at Lightning’s new outfit in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. And the first screenshots of the actual game, too.

Lightning Returns follows Final Fantasy XIII protagonist Lightning, who is awakened after a long, crystal sleep and tasked with saving a collapsing world.

Monsters will run rampant in cities, among other areas. Depending on the time of day, enemies are either stronger or weaker. Lightning will be able to move about obstacles freely. Her actions will take advantage of the difference in elevation.

A trailer for Lightning Returns will debut at Jump Festa this Saturday. Stay tuned.

    I skipped FFXIII-2 but I’m getting this day1. I’m a sucker for Lightning and I can’t help it.
    Armor design is kinda hit-or miss, more miss if you ask me but I hope there are alternatives in-game.
    Visiting Jump Festa on Saturday and stoked for the trailer.
    Is there any comprehensive overview of game publisher’s content at JF?

      Really? I figured you would have given 13-2 a try.

      Gameplay wise, I’d say it’s superior to 13. The story is minimal but traveling around time is pretty cool. If you liked the battle system from 13, it’s just as fun in 13-2. Honestly, if you liked any part of 13, give 13-2 a try.

      I think they both are sorta a package deal. The sequel tries to address what fans complained about the most, but in doing so they allowed the story to take a back seat.

      Of course you could just watch the game on youtube. If you do, be sure to watch the Lightning DLC chapter. It’s the most important story stuff that leads into returns.

        I loved 13 (everything about it, but especially the characters) and I appreciate your advice but after playing XIII-2s demo I decided to skip it. I’m not in the least interested in the two playable characters and there are way too many QTEs during cut-scenes and battles.

        The maps are confusing and the story is kinda meh, which is the most important aspect for me in an RPG. I also dislike the fact that SE decided to ditch producing 1080p cut-scenes for PS3 altogether because of MS’s asinine decision to equip their console with a 20th century storage device -_- (SE had to re-encode PS3′s loss-less 1080p videos to 720p with compression artifacts on 360 to fit them on the DVDs)

        I will certainly take a look at the Raito DLC as it’s a direct prequel to LR:FFXIII but I still refuse to play FFXIII-2.

          well, yeah. I thought XIII was an okay game, but its sequel is downright boring and dull. I HATE that I’m limited to 2 characters (Noel and Serah). The fact that they’re both boring characters doesn’t help at all. That said, the original XIII’s cast was nothing special either, but it’s so bad in this one.

          The music also took a nose dive. I can remember a few songs from XIII, but they’re all forgettable in XIII-2.

          I haven’t even finished the game, and I’m not planning to. It’s left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’m hesitant to pick up LR. I wish I hadn’t bought the game and all of its DLC in the first place. I was really stupid to buy all the DLC BEFORE trying out the game first. I thought that I’d like the game since I like XIII.

            I assume LR will bu vastly superior to XIII-2 but right now I’m just gonna check out progress updates and the trailer shown at Jump Festa.

                Nah, I’m simply more interested in Story and characters than game-play in RPGs (that’s the reason why you will never see me playing a Bethesda “RPG” – they focus on buggy game-play first while story and characters are irrelevant) . So I’ll watch the cut-scenes on YT and read some synopses and summaries and can enjoy the heck out of LR (^-^)

                  Personally, Noel is my favorite character in the FFXIII series. Too bad it took the entire game before I started linking him. Hope is also pretty bad-ass though he basically took on a whole different personality. Still, it’s worth watching the cut-scenes at the very least.

    I’m surprised how much I like the outfit to be honest. Can’t wait for the trailer when we see Lightning hopefully wearing it and in action ^^

    I’m anticipating this game so hard. I KNOW the mechanics are gonna be the best in the entire XIII series. Focusing solely on lighting I’m anxious to see the gameplay and level of action!

    I’m replaying FF13 and OMG, this game is so awesome. Yes, it should be better with more exploration, but all things that Square Enix did in this game is amazing, the battle system, the history, the characters, Sazh, Vanille, Light, man I love them so much. Every scene is pure emotion, pure Japanese Hollywood. Haters apart, this game has good user score in any website, and sold 7 millions copies. Can’t wait for XIII-3.

    Years from now, the FF13 series will be known as the infamous ‘Fanbase Splitter’. Literally everything about this game seems to have mixed reactions….from the game to the outfit, this is one series that the FF fanbase will never agree on.

    the view not clear enough..its just magazines scan so the real looks might be different views..and also this game will features many dress and dress part paradigm system …those part can be change and has variety combination
