Come on Sega, announce a western release.

100% guaranteed to have a western release. The franchise is one of Sega’s few remaining ones that can still survive.

As far as the official word goes (http://yakuzafan.com/post/35298573964/doesnt-sound-like-there-will-be-any-yakuza-5-or), there’s still no plan to bring Yakuza 5 and the PS2 HD remasters westward. I’d love to share your optimism, but I don’t see this happening less than a year after the japanese release, for one simple reason: there’s a GTA V in the middle.

Too many people in the West sees Yakuza as a “poor japanese clone” to Rockstar’s series, and having them coming to the market in a similar timeframe would destroy any chance for the SEGA game. That’s why I think, yes, we’ll eventually see a western version of Yakuza, but no, not anytime soon. It’s gonna be a long long time.

My guess would be August or September 2013. Maybe even later early 2014 but that would be crazy.

I’m not a big franchise fan, but AFAIK, all the games took around a year for localised versions to be released. The gap between Japanese and Western releases for Dead Souls is shorter, but the Japanese release was delayed a few months due to Fukushima. I don’t see the problem here at all, and I’m not sure why you needed to bring up the possibility of a localised version in less than a year when this has never been the case for all past games of the franchise…

I didin’t discover the Yakuza franchise until a few months ago, when I picked Yakuza 3 out of my backlog, and I ordered Yakuza 4 two days after when I were 30+ hours into the game.. :P I probably spent around 100 hours within a week, since I didn’t do much except sleep and play Yakuza..
It is a much better game than GTA. :)

Didn’t SEGA say they reduced their Western portfolio to 4 core franchises. Ryuu ga Gotoku was none of them :P

It’s still highly unlikely this won’t be localized, especially as they even brought Of the End (Dead Souls) to the western audience.

5:48 Am I the only one who wants to find out what the hell is going on there?

At the risk of using an internet cliche…*ahem* TAKE MY MONEY! JUST TAKE IT!!!

  • Speedo Redempteur

ok sega ..localise THIS ! and keep the japanese voices !

that’s all i ask and you’ll get my money ..
    no cuts of course

      We all agree :3

    • Kobracon

Don’t worry, they will most definitely localise this and will never dub it. After Yakuza 1 they realised what the fans want and started doing it this way for a while now. They cut stuff on Yakuza 2 but again they learned and didn’t cut anything in Yakuza 3.

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Well, actually RGG3 (Yakuza 3) had tons of content removed in the localized version ;)

I’m assuming you made a typo but I’d still like to point it out.

        • Kobracon

          Oh right. My mistake.

  • zakou

I open my waller i see money, then Sega comes along with Yakuza  collectors edition localized….suddenly wallet felt empty.

the king of open ended games of all time :D

    Romi Paku’s voice!!!

i hope this isn’t the last Yakuza game, at the same time i want them to take a break and focus all their efforts on making Shenmue 3 and the HD collections!!!!!!!
