See lithographs, characters, monsters, and dungeons.

Square Enix has shared 27 new screenshots of its upcoming 3DS remake of Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden.

The screenshots show the game’s new lithograph system. Players are tasked with collecting lithographs scattered around the world, which will grant them access to new areas when pieced together like a puzzle. Characters shown in the shots include Gabo, Melvin, and Ira; and monsters shown include the Dashran, Puzzled Cat, Bablin, and Shield Ogre. You’ll see dungeons, towns, and other things, too.

Dragon Quest VII is due for 3DS on February 7, 2013 in Japan.

Supposedly you can sell more on one platform than you can on two, or rather the licensing fee for two would eat into the profits for one but I dunno. I’m starting to think Japan’s just old fashioned and the merit to that seems relatively small. That argument makes more sense for Monster Hunter and stuff cause of the strong prevalence of Ad-hoc play. Oh well, if they localize this, then I might be up two titles for 3DS instead of one (Fire Emblem).
