Slingshot pack features new missions, maps, and characters.

2K Games and Firaxis Games have announced two pieces of upcoming single-player download content for its October 9-released XCOM: Enemy Unknown, coming soon to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The first of the add-ons is the “Slingshot Content Pack.” Available “soon,” it will include:

  • A new set of linked Council missions, where gamers will meet an enigmatic Triad operative, divert an alien ship’s course, and do battle with the aliens in the skies over China.
  • Three new maps tied to the Council missions.
  • A new playable squad character with a unique story and voice.
  • New character customization options.

The second add-on has yet to be detailed.

Additionally, the “Elite Soldier Pack,” free to those who pre-ordered the game, or $4.99 / 800 Microsoft points to those who didn’t, was made available toady. It includes the classic X-COM soldier character, Hyperion and Reaper soldier armor kits, and a variety of colors and tints for all of the game’s armor sets.
