Level-5 America teasing new announcement?
"We're looking forward to next week, North America!"
October 20, 2012 / 11:21 AM EDT / (@salromano)

Level-5 America seems to be teasing a new announcement due next week.

“Fridays are great,” it wrote in a Facebook update yesterday, “but we’re looking forward to next week, North America!”

We could be taking this out of context (maybe they just really enjoy working?!), but perhaps not. The thought of possible localization announcements for, say, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Little Battlers eXperience W, or Yokai Watch are just too difficult not to get excited for.

probably Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney localization :P

    • KurisuMakise

It BETTER BE Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney. I will not accept any other answer /need my AA fix, Capcom why T_T

    • Kobracon

      Dear god I hope so

  • Cid ALMIGHTY

I want WKC3 or WKC for the Vita

    • LordKaiser

WKC3 will never happen. The to be Continued on the end was about Avatar story. A series of quests that concludes the story and it’s centered on your avatar.

Sadly someone on either Level-5, D3 Publisher or Sony decided that the true ending etc. It’s Japan exclusive and because it sold less in the west even with the money that people spend on DLC , Ark plans, colors, guilds ,recusts etc. are not enough for us to be supported.

      • Kobracon

That…..sucks major ass. I never knew WKC got shafted so much. I love the game but due to my sucky online I never ventured or bothered reading about the online stuff. The story concludes in DLC quests that we’ll never GET?! Geez…..

        • LordKaiser

The online portion of the game is the main feature on the game. It acts as a Free to Play online RPG and it may be the reason why the offline story is so low quality and rushed. You could say that the online game is the main game with the extra equipment, guilds etc. Even so we have a incomplete game unlike Japan who not only got Avatar Story but about 30 aditional quests and a GR of 50.

  • LordKaiser

Until they explain what’s going on with werstern costumers I won’t buy another game from them.

I tought D3 Publisher was the problem but this quest we never got from WCI is not on WKC2. I demand equal treatment for us that spend money on this title.

    • PrinceHeir

      Equal Rights!!!!

    • PrinceHeir

i do wondered why they didn’t put these on the quest :

    • Hidayat246

the problem is Level 5 cant handle power of ps3
so forget all about WKC because it is a useless

Level 5 only care about Nintendo & Kids

  • MrKappa

I’m personally hoping for Little Battlers or the Inazuma collection but it’s probably just gonna be Layton :/

  • http://gematsu.com/ Zero

I’m only really interested if the announcement is a new Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy game. (Chances of either are less than 20% if I had to guess.)

Sigh… I haven’t been all that impressed with Level 5 this generation, but that’s just my opinion.

    • Skelter

Zero, you are a man that knows his flavors…….I came in this thread with the intentions of typing the exact same thing……I’m gonna be starting the Dark Cloud series for the first time next week….but I’ve finished RG and a sequel to that is the only way Level 5 can steal my pants.

      • http://gematsu.com/ Zero

I would love for them to announce a sequel to either series. I can at least keep the images of a new game in the series alive in my dreams.

Hope you enjoy Dark Cloud. I think the first game was basically a launch title for the PS2, if my memory serves. The series itself is kinda… I said “quirky” above. I think that’s a good word, kinda strange but in a good fun way.

        • Kobracon

Yeah it was a launch title. I remember back in the day when I bought my first PS2. It came with a demo disc with all the launch titles in it. I played that Dark Cloud demo so many times as well as the Klonoa demo. Man I miss Klonoa…..

    • FaithlessMr

      Oh, Rogue Galaxy!!!

This instantly popped up in my head:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWMncrrF7Qg

The original “Main theme” is already awesome, but Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Xenoblade, etc) did a splendid job with this arranged version, by making it sound more adventurous.

Awww yeah, Rogue Galaxy is so great.

      • http://gematsu.com/ Zero

Great track. The music was just another great element of the game.

Man, just listening to that and discussing the game has gotten me in the mood to play it again. xD

        • FaithlessMr

           Same here!

    • LordKaiser

You’re not alone. level-5 had decayed a lot these days and they had fallen very low. I hope their publishers had done the scamming and not them. Not Ninokuni for me if they’re responsible.

      • http://gematsu.com/ Zero

I’m hoping for the best with Ni no Kuni, I’d say my expectations are rather high.

        • LordKaiser

It may do well but it could sell less than it should if WKCII players don’t buy it on retaliation for abandoment on the West. D3Publisher pointed the finger to Level-5 about “Japanesse content only” so Level-5 have to clarify the situation.

    • Kobracon

Aw I love Rogue Galaxy. Never got into Dark Cloud sadly (missed the train) but the whole weapon synthesis in Rogue Galaxy just hit me in all the right spots.

      • http://gematsu.com/ Zero

Yeah, Rogue Galaxy was one of the best PS2 games, and one of the last big PS2 games to be released. I adore the game, absolutely adore it.

Dark Cloud was kinda like one of those fun little series (quirky might be a good word?), where as a gamer, you can see how the studio behind the games have lots of cool ideas, stories, and cool gameplay elements. In other words, you can see the talent and potential. They had some flaws, sure, but the series was pretty fun.

Most of the great customization, building homes and stuff like that, all of it was in the Dark Cloud series, but level 5 simply raised the bar as they continued to make more games.

In my personal opinion, the Dark Cloud games allowed the team at Level 5 to really grow, and that lead to them creating Dragon Quest 8 with SE, and then creating fantastic games like Rogue Galaxy and Jeanne d’Arc. I’d probably label both as underappreciated gems from the studio.

With that said, I think they had a huge hit series, well, I think they still have a huge hit series with Rogue Galaxy. I’m just not so sure Level 5 sees it that way, I kinda was hoping they would continue with the series this generation.

My feelings on the White Knight Chronicles franchise are difficult to describe… I just have a tough time not judging the series harshly. Mostly because of Rogue Galaxy, and how I felt a little upset when they decided to more or less abandon the series this generation. (My opinion.)

I don’t despise the WKC series though… It’s tough for me to put it all into words.

        • Kobracon

I feel alot of people don’t seem to like WKC for its corny story and all, but the funny thing is, I believe that was intended. The entire game feels like one big Power Rangers/Super sentai movie and I admit that is definitely not for everyone.

I remember watching developer vids about WKC and the guy straight up references Super Sentai as inspiration for the game and thus the entire thing was intended to feel like a superhero show.

Personally, my inner child just EXPLODED when I saw the first trailer. “A JRPG with a neat combo mechanic and (best of all) the ability to henshin (transform) into a giant mecha-like Knight??? WOOOOOT”

I think, much like Atlus, Level-5 caters to niches. It just so happens that the nostalgia of Power Ranger/Masked Rider shows is so much stronger over there than the US. Also the strong online community there helps alot :P

  • FaithlessMr

    What about Time Travellers? I want that game ;_;

    • Belenger

Would be nice, really nice… really really nice, but Jeanne d’arc is on discount atm on PSN+ japan, so might as well be that.

    • http://gematsu.com/ Zero

I actually forgot about this one. It looks good, so I’d be happy to see it get localized.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

    Liberation Maiden ? :p

  • MrRobbyM

I swear if it’s another WKC game I will slit my wrists. Thankfully, it most likely isnt and is instead  some sort of news relating to the Liberation Maiden localization or the new Professor Layton.

    • LordKaiser

I highly doubt there will be another WKC game. The series was a failure as a normal RPG and the only good thing where the online quests, guilds and additional equipment. I do hope it’s the DLC for WKCII or I won’t buy anything else from them. Not even Rogue Galaxy 2 if launched.

  • Learii

Little Battlers ps vita localization!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥

    • Kobracon

Now that DEFINITELY needs to happen

      • Learii

  • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

    Way too optimistic.
I’m expecting Layton Brothers for iOS.

  • [N]iels

North America is getting it’s Mirace Mask-release next week, that’s all.

  • KingOptimusOrigins111

Localization for 3DS game or WKC PS Vita.

  • Barandox

I really hope it is the rest of the White Knight Chronicles 2 DLC, we are missing out on around 60+ quests, knight armors and the Avatar story line, the player community over in US/EU really wants this DLC.

    • LordKaiser

Not to mention we are angry with the situation. The game din’t even was online for a year and we got abandoned while Japan got 4 updates. Now we have 1 year online in WKCII and the last quests where activated on February. The online mechanics are incomplete.

      EDIT:

BTW Hackers stroke Japan servers and modded a town to reflect our anger:
