The December 18-due Blu-ray release for Total Recall will come equipped with a single-player demo for God of War: Ascension, SCE Santa Monica Studio has announced.

The demo will be the same one showcased at the Electronic Entertainment Expo back in June, and will also include the new gameplay mechanics and combat systems shown off earlier this summer.

    Huh.

What does Total Recall have to do with the God Of War franchise?

Did the film suck so much arse they had no other way to promote sales?

What did District 9 have to do with God of War 3?

I for one love the fact that blu ray movies can include playstation exclusive demo’s for games. Obviously Sony will be the only ones to do this….it gets a few extra sales from hardcore Sony fans who would not have otherwise bought the particular movie the demo is included with and it hurts the sales of the movie and or game exactly ZERO.

Its a win win for Sony and the fans of the game as well as possibly adding to the consumer base of said game by people who may not have been interested in the game before, popping the movie into their “non gaming, dedicated Blu Ray movie player PS3′s” (of which the X-crowd swears thats all people buy PS3′s for anyway) and after watching the movie saying to themselves, “lets see what this god of war demo thingy is” and deciding they may pick up their first video game ever!

Either way….sarcasm aside, I would say that Movies with playable games on the disc is a great perk and last I checked, MS has never put a Halo demo on a dvd copy of any movie.
      Why is that?

Well, yes, but I guess I was expecting Product A to be related to Product B for a demo to be included. It’s clear that Sony thinks the target audience for both products are the same, hence the outcome. If a demo for, say, Remember Me was included with this movie, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid. I didn’t watch Total Recall, BTW, as the trailer made me go, “Meh.”

As for Microsoft, you can’t put a game demo on a movie DVD. There just isn’t space.

Really? I thought the new Total Recall was great and better than that mediocre Arnold film. The film is by Sony, so I don’t see what’s the surprise.
