      The game is not free to play. It will come with a free month trial, like basically every MMORPG does. (It was a F2P game during the first year or so, but that was mostly because of how poor the game was at launch.)

      They would really have to change the game a bunch to make F2P work. When a game isn’t made with the F2P model in mind, it’s pretty difficult to all the sudden go that route. Especially when its an MMORPG.

      With all the cash SE lost with XIV, they can’t afford to not charge a monthly fee for the game. They would have had to made the decision to go F2P long ago, back before they started working on A Realm Reborn.

      All of this applies to the PS3 version as well.

        Oh God, thank you; I was really hoping for it to be F2P but I guess I’ll wait and see if it goes F2P within a year like DC Universe.

    I’ve wanted to play this and Blade & Soul, for a long time now.

    I’m a big FF fan, so i’ll give it a go.

    cannot wait for this along with Monster Hunter Ultimate 3, Phantasy Star Online 2 and maybe Dragon Quest X!!!!!!

    no need for other MMORPG style of play!!

    I have no problem paying for it. It will be one of the first large scale MMROPGs on the PS3. I really want to support Square Enix as well. They lost a lot of money the first go around with XIV. I bought the original 79.99 collector’s edition and it was packaged beautifully, but the game itself was mediocre. I can’t wait for the PS3 version!
