Capcom shared a new trailer, artwork, and revealed an incoming demo for DmC Devil May Cry during a panel at Comic-Con in New York today.

A date for the demo was not announced, but it will come to consoles (a PC demo was not mentioned) prior to the game’s January 2013 release

Also revealed at Comic-Con is Mundus, the primary antagonist of the first Devil May Cry, who returns with a new look in DmC Devil May Cry as ruler of the underworld. View artwork for Mundus at the gallery.

Other details shared at the panel include:

  • Players will learn more about Dante’s parents in DmC Devil May Cry.
  • The game will have “a few novelty modes” made available upon initial completion of the game.
  • The PC version will run at 60 frames per second with enhancements, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will run at 30 frames.

Watch the new trailer below.

Thanks, Joystiq.

I have no interest in the game, but if I did the PC version sounds like the best option. Maybe when it’s $5 on Steam.

Maybe it’s still stubborn and childish but I still don’t like the new Dante. Or how Vergil seems to be a rich boy demon hunter. Regardless, I wanna pick it up Devil May Cry combat is always fun to play around with.

I still haven’t bought the HD collection on purpose in order to buy it at the time of the DmC launch. It would be cool if lots of people did the same, you know, to pass a message as consumers.

i wonder what will happen in the franchise?

if this game became successful they’ll keep making more of this style.

and if this fails Capcom will put the series on vault along with Chaos Legion, Okami, Killer 7(just give it to Grasshopper Manufacturer please), and Onimusha.

    will see :

No, because the DMC series unlike the games you mentioned, has been very commercially successful.

Let’s not forget that this is not a numbered / canon DMC game, so it’s more like a test, whether the western formula will work. It’s realistic that when this game fails they will return to the original series, like early next gen and just like DMC 4 did, it could benefit from the the new graphics and the initial game shortage. Eerly gen games sometimes do enjoy some advantage.

But buying this will guarantee the death of the original series.

“It’s realistic that when this game fails they will return to the original series..”

Or bury the IP and make a new IP.

Rather than bury the IP and make a new IP, I can see Capcom is eying another IP for a reboot…

Who knows which one they will aim next…

Then I guess I’ll be killing the original, cause I like where this is heading and I’ll be buying it. Style is really great, looks fluid and I’m interested in how the plot is being interpreted by Ninja Theory. Dare I say this might be Ninja Theory’s best game but I’ll reserve that until I get my hands on it. Also, PC @ 60FPS?! Do I double dip or just wait…problem with PC is I’m not sure how to get the PS3 controller working on PC, I’ve been using an Xbox 360 controller for PC stuff so far (or KB/M).

Strange. Why does the gameplay in this trailer seem slower than usual? Despite things I don’t like about this reboot, the gameplay footage I saw in the past seemed pretty fast paced and on part with the past DMC games. But this trailer…Now I got some doubts :/

    • FlameEmperor

Past trailers may have been of the PC version because that version runs at 60fps whereas the console versions run at 30fps.

      • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Though the PS3 version could run at even lower than 30fps… Coupled that with screen-tearing and input lags…

Omg, laaaaaaaaaame. I thought the past trailers had already been running at 30 fps D:

Whoa. I’ll give the demo a try, but I already know I’m not buying this fill price at debut :/

  • Kobracon

    Hmm…..well…I like the music :/

New Dante still isn’t sitting well with me. I just can’t get over it…..there wasn’t enough combat in this trailer either. Hopefully the demo will put all my worries to rest, but until then, I’ll still be skeptical….

I want this game to do well so badly. Not because I’m interested, because I am, but because it’ll create such immense rage it’ll be such fun to watch from the sweet seats.

    • MrKappa

Conversely if it does as bad as everyone knows it will there will be a lot of humble pie to go around and that will be equally pleasing to watch.

  • FlameEmperor

I’ll tell you what Capcom……. Add original Dante as DLC and maybe I will consider this. Waiting for that demo before I make my final verdict e.e

    • Marco Tinè

That wouldn’t be a bad idea, but there’s a “minor” detail that plays against the possibility: dubbing. My heart wouldn’t stand playing with the original Dante and hear him speaking like a little boy at the same time. Besides, there’s no way Capcom or Ninja Theory would re-dub the whole game just to accomodate an alternative character… Sigh!

    • Speedo Redempteur

my problems with the game are not “only” with the new dante ..the real probelm comes from the fact that the level design and battle design in this game are a disgrace to the devil may cry franchise..
them adding dante would soil the awesome character are love fruther ..so i don’t want them to touch it

      • FlameEmperor

I know the feeling. I’m just saying them adding the original Dante to this would be the only way for me to find a bit of enjoyment in the game.

  • Akira_Tenshi

Why is everyone so convinced this game is going to fail? The game looks amazing and there are more than enough people that actually like the new Dante. If you don’t then don’t play it but wishing a game to fail is just childish. You will also be disappointed because this game will do well.

  • Skelter

Dante kicking ass as always…..I like how he says “Finally got your attention” in the end…..gotta love Ninja Theory and the way they do facial expressions. I hope the demo is with that boss fight against the demon thats “1200 years oooooold” so I can hear Dante say “F*** YOU!”…funniest thing

  • LordKaiser

30 Frames ? Ok now I’m decided. I will pass on this game 100% I was tempted to give it a try but I have better games to buy.
