Bravely Default: Praying Brade F2P PC game announced

Open beta to begin on November 1.

Square Enix is planning a free-to-play Bravely Default game for PC, titled Bravely Default: Praying Brade.

The game, set 200 years after the original 3DS title, sees four sorceresses of the crystal compete for dispatch. There are plans for correspondence features that go along with the recently released 3DS game. One of the feature characters of this title will be the wind sorceress Idea Lee Obridge. With her red ribbon etc., there are parts of her appearance that resemble Idea Lee from the 3DS game.

Tomoya Asano, who produced the 3DS game, started the project in an absurd way, according to the magazine, but it’s finally made it to this point.

An open beta test will begin on November 1.

Thanks, Tale Tale Source, Game Nyarth.

what the fuck is square doing

I’m the first to admit that SE has been pulling off some stupid shit this generation but to be brutally honest, I don’t think this is as bad as one might think.

They’re pushing this game in Japan as much as they can. It seems that they want to turn the 4HoL/Bravely Default franchise into a new series of it’s own, without the Final Fantasy brand attached to it (even though it draws obvious inspiration from it). And they’re doing whatever they can to peak everyone’s attention.

This is a free to play, browser game….so to say nobody wants it may just be a mistake, as everyone who lives in japan with a pc and an internet connection (this is 2012, so I guess a whole lot of people would fall straight up under this cathegory) may just want to play this. This is basically sneaky advertisment, which will push more and more people in Japan into this game, which means, more sales.

Now, I wish SE would just announce this game for the west…but that’s another story.

dont make excuses for them, they dont need that kind of help.

Today its 1 f2p brower accompany ment

then tommorrow thats all they are doing

we cant support it even at this level

        • Kobracon

Thats called a Slippery Slope fallacy. Its just advertising for the game. And it wasn’t SE, it was totally the producer’s idea.

        • FaithlessMr

I’m not making excuses for anyone. I take it you didn’t actually read my post through and missed the part where I started off by saying that I’m the first to admit they’ve been doing some pretty stupid shit this generation.

Besides, a huge company like SE doesn’t need people standing up for them. They don’t even know I exist, why would I care about them to the point where I’d stand for them? I was just pointing out why, in my opinion, it’s not a bad idea as one might think.

        I agree, I think it’s a good idea.

I heard Valkyria Chronicles Duel (the web based card game) did very well for Sega, good enough for them to port it to mobile devices (IOS/Android.)

If this turns out to be as popular, the same thing might happen with this game.

And yes, I know you and I would both love to see both series localized/localized again for the west. I guess we just have to remain positive.

For the record, I still expect Square-Enix to bring over Bravely Default. Sega localizing anything is another story… (Poor Project X Zone…) =(

        • FaithlessMr

I believe Project x Zone was actually published by Namco Bandai in Japan? Sure any of the three involved in the game (NB, Capcom and Sega) could be picking the game up for publishing in the west, but out of those three I still think NB is more likely to actually do that.

Is this just the web game or the improved version of 3DS ?

Hmm.. well as long as its not a cheap ripoff lol. Don’t let us down once again SE.

  • Kobracon

Hmmm……will wait and see how it looks/plays.
