Comcept has debuted the first trailer for Yaiba, its newly announced, Keiji Inafune-lead ninja zombie action game.

According to Inafune, the concept for Yaiba was born after he left Capcom to start Comcept. The Dead Rising producer was continually associated with zombie games, and thus chose to deliver to the audience waiting “to see a new Inafune zombie game.”

“I don’t want to spoil everything just yet,” said Inafune, “but I hope you will enjoy my new game that is loaded with stuff I love, zombies, ninjas, robots, and action.

“I hope you are excited. I know I am.”

Watch the debut trailer for Yaiba below. Find a set of screen captures and Inafune’s full creator’s message below the clip.

Since my departure from my former company in December of 2010, I have been thinking about how to live up to people’s expectations as an independent game creator. What do people expect of me? What do they want to see me do? A year and a half has passed after becoming independent, and I have been fortunate enough to announce several projects along the way.

I have announced three consumer titles and three social game titles. I have given speeches in various seminars, panels, universities and schools. I have published three books. I am still aggressively challenging myself in various arenas. But I asked myself “Have I covered all everything?” It felt like something is missing; something people expect from me the most. Everywhere

I go, people ask: “Are you working on it?” “When is it coming?”

The expectation seems higher in the west. The expectation is clear. It’s for my next zombie game. There are countless zombie games out there, and yet, people say they want to see a new Inafune zombie game. I am flattered and grateful, for people associating me as a “Zombie Lover.” For that, I must, answer to this expectation. This new concept for my game was born some time after becoming independent. I don’t want to spoil everything just yet, but I hope you will enjoy my new game that is loaded with stuff I love, zombies, ninjas, robots, and action.

It’s called “YAIBA.” I hope you are excited. I know I am.

Looks very Vita-y to me, If this comes to Vita, and looks anything like that concept vid, and actually comes to America, I think I’ll finally buy a Vita.

If its not Vita, its definitely WiiU/PS3/360, as that looks too good graphically to be 3DS bound (however I would not be adverse to that too, considering I already have a 3DS).

It will come out here. I got an English press release about it from a U.S. PR firm.

Wow! Thanks for the heads-up! I’m instantly interested in this game after watching the trailer. It’s good that we’ll get an update soon.

that made my day. I guess Inafune intends all of his future projects to be international. glad to see him spread his wings, great designer at heart.

Seeing zombies again, I wasn’t impressed. But after seeing that cool cyborg-ninja, my mind instantly changed.

    zombies, ninjas, robots, and action

Now I’m really excited to see more of this game. From the trailer, the game instantly reminded me of Madworld because of the over-the-top violence and stylish art-style.

    I’m a ninja cat

Also to spite Capcom, Keiji should do an Astroboy or Casshern:Robot Hunter game (since Mega Man was obviously inspired by those two shows)

    • z_merquise

It may not be Inafune but Shinji Mikami (a former Capcom employee) had Casshern as his inspiration for creating Vanquish.

But a Casshern game with Inafune and whoever he would collaborate as the developer would be nice too.

For those who dont know, . Yaiba in Japan mean blade

    • Kobracon

As does ken (although could also mean fist) and zankantou.

      • syaznifaiq

Yeah   Ken  = Sword / fist like Tales of .. Majinken
                     Yaiba = Blade

and for zankantou , i think it just zan not full zankantou   zan = cutter
        correct me if i’m wrong

        • Kobracon

Oh you’re right! HAH. Zankantou apparently means “ship-slicing blade”. Serves me right to use something I heard from Super Robot Wars XD

        • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

well “zan” actually means “cutting (the verb)” but thanks for clearing it up anyways =)

Overhauled the post a bit. This morning’s was made in a bit of a rush.
Sorry for the radio silence for a lot of today all. Had things to take care of outside the house, plus it’s my lady’s birthday. About to head out again actually.

    • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Please say Happy Birthday to her from me. Sorry if I’m too late, but the time difference is quite significant.

  • Zuhri69

Okay, that’s just plain overkill. And I’m glad that he still continues on making stuff that he actually loves instead of stuff that he think would sell.

  • Kobracon

Keiji Inafune had me at “Ninjas, robots and action” I hate zombies so I don’t mind killing them in droves as a cyborg ninja!

  • Aldridge517

The art style for this game is straight out of a comic book
(Bruce Lee pun not intended)!  It looks great

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

      wheres the pun

      • Aldridge517

In the Bruce Lee movie Enter The Dragon, Jim Kelly has a famous quote where he says, “Man, you come right out of a comic book”

        • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Ah more of a quote then a pun :P
