An introduction to the combo customization system.

Capcom has shared new video and screenshots of Dontnod Entertainment’s Remember Me at the Tokyo Game Show.

The walkthrough displays Remember Me‘s “Combo Lab” system at work, which allows players to create and customize their own combos by unlocking and combining together fighting move memories. Up to four combo sequences (unlocked gradually) can be customized via the pause screen menu at any time.

Each combo begins with a standard attack, and each slot after can be filled with “Pressens,” or fighting move memories in need of “Proecdural Mastering Power.” There are 24 Pressens in the game, under four families: Regen (health regeneration), Power (heavy damage), Cooldown (reduces S-Pressen cooldowns on hit), and Chain (duplicates previous Pressen for double effect).

For a full, text rundown of Combo Lab, see this document.

I didn’t expect the combat in this game to require any thought, pleasantly surprised that they put work into it. Somehow I’m reminded of God Hand and that’s always a good thing.

I was surprised by how deep the fighting mechanics are!
