Play-Asia lists U.S. version of Valkyria Chronicles 3
posted on 09.26.12 at 11:30 PM EDT by (@salromano)
Product page includes English feature set, "pre-orders soon."

Online retailer Play-Asia has listed a U.S. version of Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles III: Unrecorded Chronicles, attached to a “to be announced” release date, with pre-orders said to be “opening soon.”

Even more interesting, the listing, which is separate from the retailer’s product page for the January 2011-released Japanese version, includes a fully English feature set:

  • The new Valkyria focuses on Gallia’s Squad 422, aka “The Nameless”. See the story unfold with “The Nameless”, the worst vindicatory squad made up of those with a dark background, such as culprits, deserters, war junkies, etc. Is there any chance of hope for those that lost their pride and name…? Don’t miss the sorrowful but enchanting story in the epic world of Valkyria
  • The “BLiTZ” system has been popular through the franchise for its innovative battle system with the fusion of strategy and action, and now it is back even more advanced! We now have an even more realistic war experience, with the incredible battles against gigantic enemy weapons and events occurring real-time in the middle of battles. Each character will also have special skills, and the new system will allow you an even greater variety of strategies
  • The new story takes place in the fictional Europe in 1935, the same as the very first game of the franchise. The background is the same, but this time the story unfolds from a different stand point. At times, you will fight together with the “Squad 7” members, or see the cadets of the Royal Lanseal Academy in their younger days. If you are a Valkyria fan, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the story full of such attractive characters

In October last year, Sega said it would not localize Valkyria Chronicles III due to low sales of the second game. But this Play-Asia listing seems to say otherwise. It’s very possible it could just be an error, so we’ll contact Sega for clarification.

Thanks, ChingShih.

    What even is?

O_O OMG! Is this really happenning???? PLEASE MAKE IT FREAKIN’ SO.
I would buy this game in a heartbeat.

my heart can’t take it Sal. i really hope this is true.

  • Darkrise

I’m not even going to raise my hopes up for this, not until I’ve seen a solid statement from Sega.

    stop playing with my emotions!!!!!!!!!

though this could be an error, plus knowing Sega this would definitely be a digital version :P

    • z_merquise

Personally, I don’t care if this would be digital only. I just wanted this released in English. Releasing it as digital might be better (at least for me) because you can also play it in Vita.

I still don’t have a Vita by the way.

      • PrinceHeir

yeah i think digital would be fine too since you’ll be able to play it in OLED and customize your controls.

they better bring the Extra Content built in like Tactics Ogre LUCT from the PSP.

  • Souji Tendou

While this could be a happy news, lets just wait for the official info first guys, don’t get your hopes too high. I mean, we’re talking about SEGA here right? Who intentionally ditched Bayonetta.

  • Solomon_Kano

Assume error, don’t get excited. Assume error, don’t get excited. Assume error, don’t ge- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Ahmad Reyner Nabeel

still excited about it I think hehehe :P

  • Zero

I hate to say it, but I will be really surprised if this turns out to be true.

I really want it to be true, I just don’t want fans to get excited only to be heart broken in the end.

    • Luna Kazemaru

Am I the only one finding ‘well this is sega’ negative comments funny when its the same people saying yay sega bringing over pso2?

  • SasuleUchiha

    It would be great.
But I will keep my expectation low.

  • Anonymous

I swear I saw the pre-order for the U.S. version of VC3 on Play-Asia last year too. They kept the listing for a while but the pre-order never opened and I haven’t checked back then. Not sure if this is the same one or really a good news.

    • ShinobiMuramasa

Yes they’ve had pre-orders for the US version since last year. I don’t think this is worth getting alarmed about.

  • Rin

I’d be so happy if this were true, but I’ll keep my expectations low. This is Sega after-all.
If it turns out to be false then that’s okay. I just bought the Japanese version recently anyways.

  • Luna Kazemaru

Its most likely a error but I will be shocked if its true. I still lol’d at the people crying about it moving off the Ps3.

    • Warboss Aohd

in dere defense, da sales in da west decreased cause of it.

    • TetsuyaHikari

Well, it just seemed like such a tease, lol. It started on PS3, then took two steps back and went to PSP exclusively. Pretty lame move, if you ask me, buuuuuuuuut… Japan faps to handhelds and the PSP was doing better than the PS3 at the time, so I guess it was only natural for them to make that shift.

I really hope they bring it back to PS3 at some point or at least give us a HD port of VC3 though.

  • DarthBrian

  • TetsuyaHikari

I’d consider it an error. The PSP being dead in North America on top of Valkyria Chronicles not selling well as it is in North America gives Sega more than enough leg room to excuse themselves from the table. Basically, they wouldn’t see a reason to stick around for this.

I’d consider it more likely that Sega of Japan announces Senjou no Valkyria 3 HD, then Sega of America steps in to localize it as Valkyria Chronicles 3 HD.

    • Warboss Aohd

ta be fair, dere iz still a few PSP releases coming over here.

      • TetsuyaHikari

To be fair, the PSP has been dead here for a while now, so those releases are moot.

  • RyougaZell

I want this so bad. But I don’t trust sega

  • Nathan Britt

This is amazing. I hope we get it. I have beat 1 but not 2 yet. If they release this in the states though I will buy day one to show my support. I love the theme song of VC III I got with the VC soundtrack in an Humble indie Bundle.

  • Warboss Aohd

    My Money.

Shut Up an’ Take it humies.

    • z_merquise

Gather da boyz’ and raise your WAAAAGH banner! This is going to be one desperate fight!

      (I missed you!)

      • Warboss Aohd

         missed me?

        • z_merquise

We’ve met before. In Siliconera. But I guess this is not the right place to talk about that.

          • Warboss Aohd

ah, Ishaan banned me (and never gave me a warning) for, an’ i quote “Woulda preferred it on anotha console”

Hes rather ban happy from wot i’ve seen. Granted he gives warns people NOW. Rather Bitter about that so i won’t say no more.

  • Moondrops

if it does come, it going to be a psn only release nothing more. a umd release is totally out of the question in north america.

it could be a chinese-english release for asia

  • Ahmad Reyner Nabeel

Wow, I hope Sega really makes it become true. Because this game is so awesome, especially the BLiTZ system.

  • Mario Simic

You’re messing with my feelings, Gematsu- MESSING WITH THEM!

  • Mario Simic

You’re messing with my feelings, Gematsu- YOU’RE MESSING WITH THEM!

  • Kobracon

….Just to be safe I’m gonna continue learning Japanese.

  • ~ハセヲさん~

Don’t raise your hopes… That listing has been available since April 2011, many people on GameSpot and GameFAQs already noticed it long ago. Most people even think it’s an old April Fool…

  • ddsfan2

It’s probably an error, almost guaranteed.  If it does come out, you better believe I’ll buy the localized version though.

However, there is a fan translation which is making excellent progress, so as soon as that is complete I’ll buy the Japanese version…

  • Kage

Not to be a party pooper but this is pretty old.

I remember seeing this in April-May 2011 on PlayAsia.

They didn’t  probably bother to fix it.

  • Luke Robson

Contact Sega for clarification BEFORE you post your story. Not AFTER. Fail old news.

  • TwinbladeAlkaid

Please, please, please, please let this be true… I would … buy it on the very first day.
Thank you for those news… you guys can't imagine how happy this would make me…

Eagerly awaiting a follow up article (or update) for this!

  • MrKappa

Almost got my hopes up… is this really old news? :/

  • LordKaiser

It probably be a error on Play Asia but if we get it it will probably be the Ex version. This game will be eventually fan translated so…

  • Ladius

Playasia listed the English version of Valkyria Chronicles 3 just after the Japanese release date, I don’t see why this should be reported as news after more than one year unless someone can prove they delisted that page and then listed it again with new texts that imply official PR material divulged before a Sega announcement.

The most likely chance is that Playasia simply forgot to remove that page, and there’s actually nothing new regarding VC3 as far as official localizations go.

  • Sal Romano

Hmm. I’m seeing comments saying this listing is indeed old. If so, apologies. I was tipped off via e-mail about the page, and to my understanding (or misunderstanding, actually), the page was new. Again, if not, I’m apologize for that. But I have contacted both Sega and Play-Asia regarding the listing, and am still awaiting response. Either way, perhaps we’ll be able to get the U.S. version delisted, if it’s not an actual product, so this type of confusion doesn’t occur again in the future.

For the final time, I apologize.

  • ThatAzure

It would be sweet to see this game come to the US, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m still currently playing VC3, and I’m understanding a lot of the story (which gives me a great feeling of success xD) from my studies of Japanese; so I won’t be too crushed if this doesn’t come over.

  • Alexander Christian

That listing went up at the same time the Japanese release went up back in 2010.

Why is this being posted? That listing has meant nothing then and now.

  • J.R

The story goes that the page is just a re-listing of their old post about VC3 in the west. I contacted Play-asia in regards to the post and they replied saying that “it was coming soon”. I’m still skeptical about this considering that SEGA or any other company has yet to announce the games localization but we live in hope.
