Online retailer Play-Asia has listed a U.S. version of Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles III: Unrecorded Chronicles, attached to a “to be announced” release date, with pre-orders said to be “opening soon.”

Even more interesting, the listing, which is separate from the retailer’s product page for the January 2011-released Japanese version, includes a fully English feature set:

  • The new Valkyria focuses on Gallia’s Squad 422, aka “The Nameless”. See the story unfold with “The Nameless”, the worst vindicatory squad made up of those with a dark background, such as culprits, deserters, war junkies, etc. Is there any chance of hope for those that lost their pride and name…? Don’t miss the sorrowful but enchanting story in the epic world of Valkyria
  • The “BLiTZ” system has been popular through the franchise for its innovative battle system with the fusion of strategy and action, and now it is back even more advanced! We now have an even more realistic war experience, with the incredible battles against gigantic enemy weapons and events occurring real-time in the middle of battles. Each character will also have special skills, and the new system will allow you an even greater variety of strategies
  • The new story takes place in the fictional Europe in 1935, the same as the very first game of the franchise. The background is the same, but this time the story unfolds from a different stand point. At times, you will fight together with the “Squad 7” members, or see the cadets of the Royal Lanseal Academy in their younger days. If you are a Valkyria fan, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the story full of such attractive characters

In October last year, Sega said it would not localize Valkyria Chronicles III due to low sales of the second game. But this Play-Asia listing seems to say otherwise. It’s very possible it could just be an error, so we’ll contact Sega for clarification.

Thanks, ChingShih.

It would be sweet to see this game come to the US, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m still currently playing VC3, and I’m understanding a lot of the story (which gives me a great feeling of success xD) from my studies of Japanese; so I won’t be too crushed if this doesn’t come over.

That listing went up at the same time the Japanese release went up back in 2010.

    2010.

Why is this being posted? That listing has meant nothing then and now.

The story goes that the page is just a re-listing of their old post about VC3 in the west. I contacted Play-asia in regards to the post and they replied saying that “it was coming soon”. I’m still skeptical about this considering that SEGA or any other company has yet to announce the games localization but we live in hope.
