Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes’ Snake is not old

White hair due to lighting effects, says Kojima.

Snake had brown hair in the promotional artwork for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. So why did his hair appear white in the gameplay demo?

Trick question. It was never white!

“There have been many tweets saying that Snake appears to be old with white hair after removing his goggles,” said Kojima on Twitter. “It appears white due to the back lighting.”

Further example of this brown to white hair lighting effect can be seen below, courtesy of NeoGAF user DieH@rd:

Either way, Big Boss is looking great. I hope that Richard Doyle will voice Big Boss this time.

I’m just curious is this MGS for 360? I ask because it’s only been confirmed for ps3 and usually with muti plat games it’s announced for both systems at same time unless one has timed exclusive.

It’s multiplatform. If your PS3 confirmation is referring to the PlayStation Blog post, then refer here: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/09/01/pax-2012-metal-gear-solid-ground-zeroes-is-coming-to-ps3/#comment-752361 ;-)

Well it’s just odd that MS has not confirmed its release, plus multiplatform could mean ps3, psvita, and pc. Anyway maybe I’m just making MGS out to be an extremely important game that as a company you’d want to make sure everyone knows its coming to your console.

The Xbox 360 logo appears at the end of the trailer, and was also confirmed by Kojima during the original presentation.

If his hair turns white because of lighting, then I really think their lighting engine is messed up. Light doesn’t magically make people’s hair turn white like that. o_O

    Interesting.

My theory when watching the trailer was that Big Boss had the rapid aging that Solid Snake has in MGS 4.

I wasn’t quite sure how this was possible, it was just a theory.

Let’s see. He was in his 80s during Metal Gear Solid 4? (2014) If this game takes place after Peacewalker. (Set in 1974) He would be getting up there in age.

Just as a guess, I’m going to say this game is set in late 1970’s-1980’s. Which means a few years has passed. Big Boss would be around the age of 50. Most likely late 40s between mid 50s.
