Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix announcement ‘only for Japan’
Square Enix comments on newly announced HD collection.

Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix at last week’s Tokyo Game Show. But will it arrive in North America and Europe?

“The recent KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5 ReMIX- announcement was only for the Japanese market,” a Square Enix rep told Gematsu.

If anything changes, we were told we’ll be informed.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, which includes Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories updated in high-definition, as well as high-def cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, is due for PlayStation 3 next year in Japan. If you missed the trailer, catch it here.

    Dear god I’ve never seen so much whining in my life. This will be localized, US sales are generally higher when it comes to KH. Like FaithlessMr said, announcements worldwide are not made simultaneously.

    I guess what people fail to realize is this is a Japanese convention. Localization announcement will be made a later time, just not right now. People read this and think “OMG its proof they will never localize it ever, square is the worst company ever why they hate money”.

    Have some patience people and some humility.

              No it wasnt, I have both BBS and BBS FM and I can tell you, there are LOADS of upgrades. BBS FM had fights with No Heart and Eraqus’ armor in it.  It also had an epilogue starring Aqua where you get to face actual heartless in the world of darkness, plus a new pure breed heartless boss!  It also had new keyblades, mirage arena events, and well it had too many changes/upgrades for me to list, so I’ll just copy and paste from Wiki

              Critical Mode has been added as a Difficulty Level.[2]
              All Unversed have been given new color schemes. For example, the Flood is now purple instead of blue.[2]
              The Sticker Album and its related quest have been added, though several of the rewards have been modified from the international release.[2]
              The Rhythm Mixer Command Style has been added. It is musical-themed, and requires the player to press button prompts for the finisher.[2]
              The Unison Rush, Voltage Stack, Illusion commands have been added.[2]
              The Illusion commands are obtained by completing Battle Missions, which can be found throughout the worlds as floating orbs emblazoned with the Unversed emblem, similar to that of the Vanitas Remnant. Each Battle Mission has its own rules and win requirements.[2]

              Characters in certain cutscenes, including ones on the Destiny Islands with Sora and Riku, are given higher quality facial animations.
              The Skull Board has been added as a Command Board.[2]
              Pete has been added as a Dimension Link.[2]
              The Castle Circuit track has been added to Rumble Racing.[2]
              The “Destiny Islands” song has been added to Ice Cream Beat.[2]
              Vanitas Remnant gives the Void Gear Keyblade.[citation needed]
              Young Xehanort appears as a boss, and gives the No Name Keyblade.[2]
              Armor of the Master, Monstro, and No Heart appear as bosses of the three new Mirage Arena battles, “Mentor of Light”, “Monster of the Deep”, and “Foresight unto Darkness”, respectively.[2]
              The “Monster of the Deep” battle is made up of a timed stage
              where the player can attack Monstro directly, and an acid-filled stage
              within Monstro’s belly where the player is sent once the two minutes run
              out. The player must defeat the Unversed within Monstro to escape and
              try to damage Monstro further.[2]
              Beating the “Foresight unto Darkness” Mirage Arena match grants the player a new Keychain, the Crown Unlimit Keyblade.

              A new secret scene named “A fragmentary passage”
              has been introduced, in contrast to the secret movies seen in previous
              games. In the “Secret Episode”, the player controls Aqua through the Realm of Darkness, rather than watching the Blank Points secret movie from the NA release.

    Alright, everyone is being too assumptive— yes the announcement was for Japan. DUH. It was the “TOKYO GAME SHOW” you’re not going to see this announced in Japan and for the US/EU at the same time. Square just doesn’t do that.

    Plus, both you and Siliconera asked about the announcement itself. Well let’s see, Japanese trailer, Japanese Gameplay, Japanese Website. So of course THIS announcement was for Japan only.

    Does that bar the possibility of an English announcement? No, because you didn’t specifically ask about that.

    The reason I find it so hard to even want to follow gaming news sites is because you all take almost everything out of context, Siliconera Kotaku do it far too much, and I’d hate to see Gematsu make the same stupid mistake.

    It’s pretty stupid to ask this early on anyway, I mean really. Even with Birth by Sleep, Days, and Coded people got the same response— this is nothing new.

    Japanese reveal =/= an English localization announcement.

      I don’t think I took anything out of context. The title of this post is “Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix ANNOUNCEMENT ‘only for Japan’.” The announcement it refers to, the Tokyo Game Show announcement, is clearly linked in the post. I asked Square Enix if the game is coming overseas, as well (so yes, I did specifically ask about that – here’s my exact question: “Can Square Enix confirm whether it will localize the recently-announced-in-Japan Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix?”), to which they responded, “The recent KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5 ReMIX- announcement was only for the Japanese market.” I was told that if anything changes, which clearly means there could be changes, then I’d be informed.

      I don’t think it’s too soon to ask. And there are two reasons for that: 1) Square Enix’s global approach, as of late, and 2) the fact that both games in this collection are already localized, complete with voices, save for some of the new content in Final Mix. That given, I don’t think there is any reason Square Enix couldn’t release this worldwide day and date with the Japanese version.

      i mean they only reported it was announced TGS. 

      nothing more, they didn’t spin it like no it’s only for japan etc.

      plus as you said, it always happens like this.

      announce first a japanese release, then a few months later closer to the release they announce a overseas versions.

      so i don’t think Gematsu is at fault here, it’s that people’s expectations need to be check.

      for me i don’t mind waiting a bit, since i still have lots of games to finish so it doesn’t bother me at all.

    From what I have read, I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Kingdom Hearts has ALWAYS sold well in the West. And while they may be announcing it “for Japan only” at the moment, we shouldn’t write of Square Enix so fast. They may lack insight, but they know that this series is one of their bread-winners worldwide. Why do you think they won’t make KH3? Because they can get away with it. I played the first Kingdom Hearts when I was nine years old. 12 years later I have bought every single one, hoping that I will one day reach the end of this cheesily complex lore that I love. It’s a good series and they know that it sells well everywhere….so just be patient guys.

        Nomura said that he didn’t want any of the Final Mix games to come to the West. It might be a possibility for future titles, but for now he doesn’t want the Final Mix versions to leave Japan.

    I’ve lost all faith in square enix, first they bring out probably the most complicated game series of all time on almost all of the consoles as exclusives so only people who own every console can actually follow the story, (luckily I managed to play and complete all of the kingdom hearts, but other people weren’t so lucky), and now they make the HD remix exclusive to an entire country!!!! If this turns out to be true square enix are more retarded than i originally thought.
