Electronic Arts and Insomniac Games have lifted the lid on Fuse, formerly known as Overstrike, a four-person co-op action shooter due for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2013.
A stroy-driven game, Fuse follows elite covert agents Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux, each with their own unique set of skills and experimental weapons, as they fight to protect the world from a “deadly alien energy” known as “Fuse.”
Players will be able to earn Fuse points for powerful upgrades, and level up along unique character paths in both online and offline play. The game features a progression system unified between different play modes, allowing players to continue leveling up their characters no matter the scenario. The game will also enable players to switch between characters on the fly using a feature called “Leap.”
Here’s a bit about the game’s story, courtesy of Electronic Arts:
In Fuse, the members of contact team Overstrike 9 attempt to thwart a rogue paramilitary organization called Raven from stealing the Fuse source located deep within a classified government facility. Overstrike 9’s pursuit of Raven will take them around the world, from the fortified desert facility to underwater bases, island strongholds, icy mountain peaks, palatial hideouts and beyond. Later, as the team closes in on Raven, another more sinister enemy reveals itself as a truly horrendous global threat.
Some of the bigger outlets have gone up with previews of the game. Make your selection: Destructoid, G4, Gamespot, IGN, Joystiq, Kotaku, OXM, Polygon, Shacknews.
