Final Fantasy XIV Tokyo Game Show trailer
Just beyond the horizon, a new XIV awaits.

Square Enix has released the Tokyo Game Show trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, its upcoming reboot to the 2010-launched MMORPG due later this year for PC and early next year for PlayStation 3. Watch the video below.

      I’m going to guess the trailer was showing the PC version of the game. The PS3 version (visually) will more or less look the same.

        Apparently it was showing off the PS3 version according to other press…

        Explains why it was so choppy, but I’m hoping that was because of the poor encoding

          Square has not said which version is shown in the trailer.

          But yeah, given the visuals, I’d guess it’s either running on PS3 or a lower-rate PC?

    Two things they need to do to convince me. 1. Confirm I don’t have to re-purchase the game and 2. Give me another 1 free month to experience all the changes at no risk. Yes, they gave us 6+ months free to play after the disasters of a launch,but as I said, to convince me to spend another 15 dollars per month on this, I would need something more than just trailers.

      I have some good news. You won’t have to repurchase the game, and they will offer another free trial. =)

      “Among our new plans is the fundamental reworking of in-game maps. As part of this process, there will be a period required for switching over to a new client and new servers, after which there will be a large transfer of data when service is brought back online. After the new client is completed, new software for the PC version will be distributed online, and can be acquired free of charge. Character data and progress for players already playing the PC version will also be preserved, allowing those players to continue using their in-game avatars.”

      ” Between October and December of 2012, we plan to integrate the current service and the coming PlayStation®3 version into the all-new FINAL FANTASY XIV. At this time, a second free trial period will also be offered.“ 

      I’m with you though, I’m not sold on coming back to the game. This is coming from someone that played the current version for months.

    I just can’t shake the feeling that this game will still not do well even though they’ve tried so hard to fix it.

    I am interested it is coming to the ps3 as I like to play games on gaming devices.

    MAN that song was EPIC!  FFXIII really fudged up by not having the Final Fantasy theme song in it anywhere!  Just that theme made XIV feel more FF than XIII does (this is coming from someone who actually LIKED XIII and LOVED XIII-2).  And that victory song in choir :D
