Do I need to play 999 to help me understand Virtue’s Last Reward?

Nah. They’ll be some references that you won’t get though but nothing that will be pivotal to understanding the story in Extreme Escape Adventure:Good People Die(yeah, I’m gonna call it by it’s Japanese name coz it’s better xD).

I suggest you do because 999 was amazing. Also it should give you an idea of what Virtue’s Last Reward will be like. Plus I am sure some things of 999 should be in Virtue’s Last Reward.
