Thief 4 development is being moved to next-generation consoles, according to the Official Xbox Magazine.

If true, the change could mean the game is released late next year, around the same time as the much-rumored next-generation Xbox, known as ‘Durango’.

CVG has said its sources have testified to the legitimacy of the rumor.

Announced in 2009, the thief sneak ‘em-up went into hiding to emerge as a 30 second clip, which was leaked earlier this year. This would suggest that the game has been in development for approximately four years.

In development at Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the game’s last level has been completed, if the LinkedIn profile of designer Fabien Morisson is to be believed.

You can see the 30-second clip again below.

I hope it’ll be a launch title for the next-gen consoles. From what I’ve heard, the Thief series is absolutely fantastic.

    It’s alright and I hope it’ll be like DX:HR.

2013 and on next gen consoles? this probably means PS4/ 360 2 reveal in E3 2013 and release winter 2013 for both in japan? or just PS4 in japan in winter and Europe/NA in Februari 2014?

Really looking forward to this one. It’s nice to see the Thief series make a “comeback” in all of it’s shadowy glory. I’m playing through the metal age and deadly shadows.
