"A lot of exciting announcements," teases Kojima Report.

Next week’s Metal Gear 25th anniversary event at Tokyo Midtown will be full of “a lot of exciting announcements,” according to Kojima Productions Report podcaster Ken Mendoza, speaking on the latest recording of the podcast.

And these will be big. At least, according to Chris Johns, who works alongside Mendoza.

“A lot of things to look forward to next week,” said Johns, “not just for fans, but I think the industry’s gonna be shook by what we’re going to be able to present here.”

Here’s what we know about the event so far:

  • Hideo Kojima will make an announcement in relation to is idea of a game that connects people.
  • We’re going to see ‘what Fox Engine can do‘, which we’re guessing will come in the form of a new game. Perhaps the same as that above, perhaps not.

The event will occur on August 30.

What is the exact date of the event?

My body is ready for Enders Project on FOX Engine.

    • Aug. 30. Added it to the post. ;]

      • Hinano

        Thank you!

  • EspadaKiller

Enders Project and MGS5. Bring it on.

  • Zone of the Enders 3 and Metal Gear Solid 5. That would be awesome.

    • PrinceHeir

      Ender’s Project!!!!!!!

while i love MGS5, i think i would love another franchise revive by Kojima.

      like Policenauts/Snatcher or Boktai.

but since this is MGS 25th Anniversary event, i won’t be surprised if it is indeed MGS5.

though if they announce remake of Metal Gear/Metal Gear 2 from MSX with mechanics of MGS4(fully 3D,crouch walk, CQC etc)

i would die in a heart attack in an instant!!!!!!!!!

      come on Kojima!!!!!

  • Next week has to be one of the most exiting weeks we are getting so much. For does of us who read naruto, Tobi’s face will finally be seen, a new TWEWY might be seen, The next step to Final Fantasy XIII’s Lightning saga, PAX itself and now this. Wow next week will be amazing!!

  • bebestorm117

This news makes me excited and anxious!

  • I love MGS but I would like something unique and creative. Hideo Kojima said he had something else he wanted to make that was a bit taboo. I would like to know he is still making whatever that was and if it will be shown.

  • Charlie

While seeing MGS5 would be truly breathtaking, I personally would love to a new IP by Hideo Kojima, now that would be truly special.

  • zakou

FF and MGS both amazing and unique series and both will have their 25th anniversary :D

It’s like the half life of great franchises in videogames is 25 years!

  • rockman29

Will Kojipro be suing Samsung for another billion dollars?

  • KingOptimusOrigins111

Metal Gear Solid 5, Snake & Raiden in PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale, & Metal Gears Solid coming to the PlayStation Vita.

  • Malcolm Reynolds

    ZOE3, Snatcher 2, MGS5.

All Playstation platform exclusive the way they should be.

    That is all.

    • Hinano

It will be multiplatform most likely and no they shouldn’t lol.

      • KingOptimusOrigins111

We don’t know if they will be multiplat or not. For all we know Kojima Project Orge could be a new ip while MGS5 could indeed be a PS3 exclusive. Kojima loves PlayStation so we don’t know. Xbox is already getting Metal Gear Rising so we are going to have to wait till this event to see if MGS5 is a exclusive to PS3 or a Multiplat or Project Orge or if Project Orge and MGS5 are two different games.

        • Hinano

Fox Engine is multiplatform. I don’t think he displayed that for no reason last year. When did he say he loves Playstation? and that probably doesn’t factor into which console it gets released for. Lately, releases have been multiplatform. Rising was initially multiplatform as well. There is not much benefit for Konami to release it exclusive.

Project Ogre is most likely not MGS 5. Were they not hiring for it at GDC or something last year? and they showed off a figure of one of the characters from Project Ogre as well?

          • KingOptimusOrigins111

Im saying Kojima always changes his mind on things and that we don’t know what to expect. As far as loving PlayStation why did all of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection trailers and gameplay were shown on PS3, why did he only stay at E3 to sit & watch Sony Conference this year, why is he pushing the transfer data between PS3 & PS Vita so much. Quit trying to down play that Kojima simply loves PlayStation.

Im not saying he hates Xbox and project ogre may be mostly shown on Xbox but he would rather show most of his games he make on PlayStation. In a video he says he is pushing future titles as multiplats with the fox engine but the video is from 2011’s E3 so you don’t know if in a year time he could have change his mind on projects we simply don’t know. Yes I do believe his upcoming Project Orge, ZOE3, & other secret projects are multiplat using the Fox Engine but for MGS5, the MGS franchise has been on PlayStation for sometime now so you never know.

            • Hinano

There is nothing to downplay about his love for Playstation as it is irrelevant to what he does. Also, where did you hear he only watched the Sony Conference this year? Just curious

You’re right though that you never know. Anything can happen.

            • Malcolm Reynolds

Last I checked MGS4 was still PS3 exclusive and Kojima even said it couldnt have been done on xbox.

The graphically inferior MGR is multiplat and it shows its not near the same level of a Kojima game.

Collection was multiplat but this was a port collection of last gen MGS titles and the second time MGS2 substance has been on an MS platform.

Btw: thanks to MS policies we see how Silent Hill Collection turned out.
I dont think there is any real choice here….anything Konami related should be bought on the lead platform it was developed for…..PS3.

Heck, even the Castlevania LoS xbox version suffered from framerate issues. The cutscenes even skipped and were filled with screen tearing not to mention the slowdown during large fights.

Anyway…..if metal gear ??? Is multiplat in the future there is still only 1 platform it was meant for and as you mentioned Kojima loves the platform as well. It shows in the final product.

              • KingOptimusOrigins111

Exactly, that’s what I was trying to get across hinano head but hinano is was not understanding that. If MGS5 is a direct sequel to MGS4 how in the world could they make MGS5 multiplat when they would have to bring MGS4 to the Xbox and Kojima has already said in the past MGS4 is not coming to the Xbox. Like I said we don’t know what Kojima is thinking. As far as his other projects he working on like ZOE, Project Ogre, & others they’re probably multiplat because like I said that E3 2011 MGS HD Collection video he plans to make future titles multiplat. So you never know.

                • Simply because MGS5 would sell a lot on the 360 with or without MGS4. They would profit from it. That is the only factor that matters in business unless they get some serious compensation from Sony to release it exclusive.

                  • KingOptimusOrigins111

Yeah but do 360 owners even like the Metal Gear Solid franchise. I mean xbox has never seen a real Metal Gear Solid besides the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Like I really just don’t even see it happening until Kojima says so.

                    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Last gen it didnt sell very well :

I say splinter cell goes to xbox and metal gear to ps3,let the war begin!

          • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Unreal engine is Multi platform as well, yet it powers quite a few exclusives, just because the engine is made to make games for multi doesnt mean it will be.

That being said I think mgs5 will be multi,it was hard enough for Kojima to convice the higher ups to let 4 stay exclusive for years,I doubt he could do it again, which is sad I think creators should have the power to choose what console a game appears on.

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

I friggen love exclusives so I support this!

    • MGS started on Nintendo …just like Final fantasy and Kojima himself has stated that he cant stand MGS being an exclusive its why we got the HD remakes on 360 also.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

Yes but when Nintendo opted to stay in the past and use $80 (@retail) cartridges for the N64 a crap ton of 3rd party devs left Ninty and went to the much more dev friendly Sony.

MGS, FF7,8,9,Tactics, Chocobo’s Dungeon 2, Chocobo Racing, Ergheiz, Einhander,Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Brave Fencer Musashi, FF Origins, Xenogears, Saga Frontier 1&2, Bushido Blade 1&2, and many many others show exactly where Squares loyalties were from 95 onward.
MG and FF were on Ninty platforms by default. There was nothing better at the time. Since Sept 94 in JPN Sony has mopped the floor with Ninty’s outdated HW each gen (although the GC had a slightly faster clockspeed than the PS2) and the devs and most core gamers have never looked back.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

I should say, I didnt mean for it to seem like I thought MGS was made by Square and not Kojipro/Konami.

Didnt mean to lump it in with allthe square games
