Epic Games buys People Can Fly

Epic Games has purchased Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly, following the departure of studio founder Adrian Chmielarz, and top artists Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki.

The Warsaw, Poland-based studio is currently assisting Epic in developing next year’s Gears of War: Judgment for Xbox 360.

“We doubled down on People Can Fly,” said Epic Games vice president Mark Rein. “It was something we always hoped to do.”

Chmielarz, Poznanski, and Kosieradzki’s departure from People Can Fly came as a result of the buyout. But it was a friendly leave, according to Rein.

“We will be helping [Chmielarz] with some future announcements,” he said. “Our paths will be crossing again.”
