Rumor: Halo 2 Anniversary in development

Halo 2 getting the high-definition treatment?

July 5, 2012 / 08:14 PM EDT / (@salromano)

Halo developer 343 Industries is working on a high-definition remaster of Halo 2, according to a rumor in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine.

Like last year’s Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, this update is said to be called Halo 2 Anniversary.

Halo Anniversary launched ten years after its initial release. If the pattern continues, we could be looking at a 2014 release for Halo 2 Anniversary. (Though, I personally doubt an HD update would take that long to develop.)

Thanks, NeoGAF.

    I wouldn’t be surprised.

Didn’t like the art at all in the remake of Halo 1 with Anniversary.

There’s so many more ways to make Halo 1 awesome looking on PC.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they plan to release Halo 2 Anniversary next year in order to keep a yearly release schedule with the Halo series.

EDIT: Yep, looked it up and a Microsoft Exec said they were looking at a yearly release schedule for Halo.

And that taps out all of MS legacy titles.

Oh wait, I almost forgot Azurik, Bruce Lee and Bloodwake LoL.

They’ve still got the original Fable…though, that would be the same case as Final Fantasy 7 where they would rerelease it and people would remember it isn’t actually all that great.

        QFT.
To even put FF7 and Fable in the same sentence, much less universe is ludicrous.

Youre Right. Fable wasnt great. In fact it had more broken promises than actual fun non-repetitive content.

While FF7 has flaws, it is still a classic at its finest.
Again, how you can even compare those two games is mind blowing.

Because they’re both games that brought practically nothing new to their respective genres, but are still worshiped as groundbreaking RPGs.

            LMAO!
            NO ONE worships Fable!
Xbots dont count. They are no one.

Peter Molyneux has never made a single game that deserves to pop a pimple on the ass of anything Sakaguchi has ever put forth.

With FF7 I thought the Materia system was fresh and new. I also thought the fully fleshed out best in the industry CG cutscenes were pretty damn new.

FF7 did break new ground for its genre and not to mention the fact that it made JRPG’s mainstream for console gamers in America. It “Call of Duty’d” the series so to speak.
Its obvious your knowledge of gaming is limited in scope but you shouldnt make it so easy to counter every single thing you say.

    1. Make a franchise
    2. Remake it for maximum profit
    3. Repeat
