Rumor: Assassin’s Creed III getting tons of DLC

If this supposed GameStop note is anything to go by.

Ubisoft is planning tons of post-release download content for Assassin’s Creed III, if a supposed note sent out by Ubisoft to GameStop stores is legitimate. The note promises to award the fine workers of GameStop with an Assassin’s Creed necklace as a thanks for all their hardwork in selling Assassin’s Creed III pre-orders. And it asks for their continued cooperation in selling a “Season Pass” shortly for the game’s post-launch DLC.

Wherever there’s a Season Pass, there’s a ton of DLC. Or else there’d be no point.

The note reads:

Hi Team GameStop!

First thing’s first – a BIG thank you for helping us ASSASSINATE our announcement pre-order goals! We couldn’t have done it without your hard work. As a token of our appreciation, inside is an exclusive necklace from the Assassin’s Creed team in recognition for all you do!

What’s next? We are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content to continue the Game of the Year experience that Assassin’s Creed 3 will undoubtedly deliver. With a dedicated team specifically to this content we plan to set the bar for quality DLC in our industry.

We know you’re familiar with the “Season Pass” concept and, beginning shortly, we’ll start to take pre-orders of our very own. We’d love your continued assistance in informing pre-order customers that a better value is available for thsoe who-preorder Assassin’s Creed with the “Season Pass”.

Once again, thank you for everything and we’ll be in touch soon.

Let’s hope the DLC is mostly for the story.

I bet a large amount of the DLC is the Pre-Order DLC.

If you go here – http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/ac3/en-US/pre-order/index.aspx

You will see each store has at least 2 pieces of DLC included with a Pre-Order of the game. That puts the DLC count at 10 or more already. Obviously, no one is going to reserve a copy at every single retailer listed. The PC Deluxe Edition gets most of the Pre-Order DLC included with it.

I’m going to say the Season Pass will probably be the way to go for anyone that plans to purchase the DLC. Rockstar Games, tends to offer Season Passes, and they usually end up saving you money in the long run. For those who like to purchase DLC.

(Square-Enix should have offered a Season Pass for all the 13-2 DLC. It started to get pretty ridiculous! And expensive!)

And just to be clear, I’ll go ahead and say I wish all DLC was released after launch for free/very cheap. I also understand that DLC is part of video games now. Some of us like to purchase DLC and there is nothing wrong with that.

If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.

ITA XIII-2 definitely needed a pass. I thought it was genius was R announced for Noire. I was sad when it ended

At least Assassin’s Creed’s DLC is usually worth its money.

As long as those DLC aren’t 90% focused toward multiplayer.
