No. 1: Resident Evil 6.

The PlayStation 3 version of Resident Evil 6 sits in position at number one in this week’s Famitsu Top 30. Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS, building from its momentum at Capcom Summer Jam, isn’t far behind at position two. New to the top five (since we last did one of these) are New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS and Tales of Xillia 2 for PlayStation 3. Notable moves this week include Final Fantasy Versus XIII (8 to 14), Yakuza 5 (5 to 10), Toki to Towa (18 to 11), and Assassin’s Creed III (20 to 28).

I’d like to see where Versus XIII is at next week, considering the rumor.

Though, I’m not sure when user voting takes place. So we may have to wait until the week after that.

Biohazard (Resident Evil) still carries lots of weight in Japan on name recognition alone. No matter how action-TPShootery Capcom turn the franchise away from its horror roots, it’s gonna sell anyways (cf. sales of Operation Raccoon City in Japan). Here’s hoping it’s gonna deliver at least some tension and scares.

FFvXIII’s drop out of the top-10 probably mirrors all the negative press and rumors. I’m genuinely interested in SE’s reaction to that sh*tstorm. Any confirmation or announcement is better than nothing at all. If even Japanese fans lose confidence in FFvXIII it means SE really need to address it somehow.

Still keeping my fingers crossed, in Nomura I trust.

FFVXIII is not cancel. Mark my words, it will be TGS 2012 or SE own event in September.

kotaku’s just trolololol-in. anyway, is this rumor western only? what about affairs in Jap?

            • KingOptimusOrigins111

I don’t know I just found it. It seems like its a western only rumor. I believe the game is alive because if the guy is really close to Square Enix getting info from them and he says recently Nomura is hard at work on Versus XIII. Then I would go with this guy over Kotaku who is yelling they got their info from a unnamed source. I think Kotaku should just close down their site with all their trolling they like to do. I say just wait till TGS 2012 or SE own event in September.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is being developed by Square Enix’s 1st Production Department in Japan. If the game is canceled, it’s not just a western thing. It’s worldwide.

I wouldn’t think Kotaku simply decided to post something completely false without any real backing. Their “unnamed sources,” which @gematsu-91299a41773c667d2ee8cddc3f6eeb64:disqus mocks, are possibly from within Square Enix, and can obviously not be named due to the risk of losing their job.

As far as that Silent Chief link goes, if you read our post, we already mentioned that, as Erren is a personal friend of mine. Though, the fact is that was nearly two months ago at E3, and not now, where things could have changed. Kotaku’s rumor claims the game was canceled “within the last few weeks.”

Look. Obviously, I don’t want Versus XIII to be canceled. It’s the initial reason I bought a PlayStation 3. But the fact is that until Square Enix issues an official statement, we can’t be too sure about anything. Kotaku’s had their hits and they’ve had their misses. PlayStation Home was a hit. Let’s hope this is a miss.

On Friday, I e-mailed Square’s NA PR about the rumor (early morning) and asked their 1st Production Dept. about it on Twitter (late at night). Considering that by Friday it was already Saturday in Japan (the games industry doesn’t work on the weekends), let’s give it until this week and see what Square says – if they decide to say anything.

Ok, Sal lets wait a week but the guy or girl from Neogaf is a lot more reliable and is much closer to SE when trying to get info. In my opinion I believe him or her because Kotaku has always been known to troll and always been wrong.

              • FaithlessMr

Pretty sure they’ll go with the “We don’t have anything to say regarding FINAL FANTASY VERSUS XIII (the guys at SE Europe usually write the names of the games in all caps for some reason, lol) at the moment, and as soon as there’s any information available we’ll let you know.”

    • stealth20k

kotaku just trolled it will be DATED and SHOWN at tgs

    @Zero
You closed the comment section way too fast in the Minecraft post. Just because that one dude started shit, again.

Anyway….., it’s surprising that RE6 is on #1. Didn’t really blew me away, at least.

Nice to see Metal Gear Rising in the list. It’s one of my most anticipated games for 2013. I hope that would become Platinum’s next biggest seller after Bayonetta. Platinum should deserve more attention to gamers.

Yeah, Project X Zone too. I hope this game would be localize in English.

The Last Remnant will never die lol.
