Square Enix registers Final Fantasy VII PC domain
Square Enix planning Steam release?
June 16, 2012 / 11:08 AM EDT / (@salromano)

Square Enix this week registered the domain name FinalFantasyVIIPC.com, Fusible has uncovered.

In June last year, listings for Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII were discovered in Steam’s registry files. But Square Enix never followed up with an announcement.

Perhaps the registration of this domain is the sign of a coming Steam release? Or perhaps Square Enix is simply protecting its properties?

Ah so SE have finally seen the light and now will remake FFVII for the superior PC master-race, with no outdated hardware to hold them back.

Looks like console peasants will have to invest in a $3000 PC or cry delicious tears because they won’t be able to play FFVII in 3080p at 200 fps.

@chinglee: Can’t tell if joking or just crazy.

@chinglee: Shouldn’t it be Ultra HD (4320p)? If he isn’t joking he is delusional.

Poe’s Law in full effect, since there are really PC Elitists like this ; P

weird. i thought it was released on pc a loooong time ago.

EDIT: and yeah, a quick search, and it was released around 1998. lol. guess this is really just steam related.

@whiteferrero: It was. A PC version exists. This just hints towards a steam release.

I’m just glad that Square is finally loosening up with releasing digital content. They’ve been kind of weird about that for a while now. Letting some out, not others etc.

I have already played FF VII on the PS1, I would love to play a remake on my PS3! I would definetly not use my computer for gaming, it is too slow.

@Miranda Lawson: If only that PS3 tech demo had been an announcement trailer. :P

    Question:

If people in Cleveland use steam often, can they be referred to as Cleveland Steamers?
