
Nintendo has released a list of specifications for the Wii U.
Available on Nintendo’s website, the specifications detail everything from its hardware and dimensions, to its operating system and software – though its CPU and GPU are largely unspecified beyond their basic capabilities and manufacturer.
It also states that “nearly all” Wii software and accessories are compatible with the system
Hardware features worth noting are:
- Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i
- Compatibility with HDMI, Wii D-Terminal, Wii Component Video, Wii RGB, Wii S-Video Stereo AV and Wii AV
- CPU: IBM Power-based multi-core processor
- GPU: High Definition AMD Radeon
- Internal flash memory, with SD memory card and USB storage support
- Four USB 2.0 slots: two front, two back
As for its software and other features, the website highlights:
- Miiverse: An online network that allows players to talk, play and interact with one another
- Wii U internet browser
- Video chat online using the Game Pad’s built-in camera
- Access the Nintendo eShop
- Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and YouTube will be available
