Yakuza 5′s Haruka will not fight or gamble
Five characters for Yakuza 5? Coincidence!
May 29, 2012 / 12:22 AM EDT / (@salromano)

Haruka Sawamura, who first appeared in Yakuza 1 and is finally playable in Yakuza 5, will not participate in battles against thugs in her upcoming playable debut. According to series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi, speaking to Dengeki PlayStation this week, she will have a different type of battle element.

Because she’s a minor, Haruka is unable to gamble or participate in any of the cabaret (hostess) clubs. Nagoshi, however, said to rest assured that she will have her own side activities that the game’s other four characters can not experience.

Jumping to more general tidbits, Nagoshi said Yakuza 5‘s scenario will have twice the volume of Yakuza 4. And the fact that Yakuza 5 has five characters is just a coincidence. Nagoshi did not say whether or not the game’s five cities were just a coincidence, as well.

Thanks, Game Jouhou.

Aww….slightly dissapointed but it makes sense. I honestly can’t imagine Haruka being as rough as her Uncle Kaz.

I agree, it’s disappointing but yeah, makes sense.
It would have been nice to see Haruka kick some ass though.

@Kobracon: i was thinking she’d do a little xiaoyu (tekken) on us

@whiteferrero: Well….yeah it’d be cool but where the hell would she have learnt it? And besides, we all know Haruka by now. She wouldn’t harm a fly.

Although I have to say I’m extremely curious to what he means by “she will have a different type of battle element”. What? Is there gonna be a singing contest coz shes trying to be an idol? Gymnastic? Running? With all the minigames in every Yakuza game I honestly wouldn’t be surprised XD

Right or wrong I can’t wait!

    Lame. Really disappointing news.

Was looking forward to seeing what kaz might have taught her in self-defense.

Afterall, you don’t hang around with a guy who kicks THAT much ass and not pick up on a few things.
