XDev, one of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, lifted the lid on an all new downloadable title for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita today: When Vikings Attack.

The game brings together a group of local citizens, including a construction worker, a butcher, a policeman, a pastor, and a schoolboy, as they combat a horde of Vikings attacking the town. It features both adventure and versus modes that can be played with up to four players. It is a “full cross play/save/buy title,” meaning you can play online across any combination of platforms (two PS3s vs. two Vitas, or one Vita vs. three PS3s), share saves across platforms, and when you buy one version, you get the other free.

See the game in action below. Check out the first screenshots at the gallery.

When will these people learn? They should have been using Capital One; they wouldn’t have to worry about being pillaged.

I feel like buying it because you are getting both versions for the same price. That is how it should be with PSN titles and wish they would do it with other titles as well at least with Sly and the PS All-Stars game, have a downloadable code for the Vita version and of course the blu-ray for the PS3 version. I think it would entice more software sales and help sell the Vita.

@Keegs79: I could understand why that would be more difficult with the bigger games, though.

I think, at least, Sony could offer a $20-off coupon or something for the bigger games.
