THQ is currently “in discussion” with other companies about picking up Tomonobu Itagaki’s 2010-announced action game Devil’s Third. During its earnings conference call today, the publisher said the Valhalla Studios title no longer “fits THQ’s profile.”
Thanks, Patrick Klepek.
Update: THQ has said that the driving force behind its decision was profitability.
The company providing Valhalla the engine for the game went out of business. THQ had to step in and provide them a new engine, and in the end, with the conversion rates between the dollar and yen, it turned out revenue would be an issue.
THQ assured, however, that they’re going to make sure the title makes it to market.
