Rumor: Lionhead creating MMO / single-player hybrid for next Xbox
Job listing hints at studio's involvement.Lionhead Studios may be working on a hybrid MMO / single-player title for the next Xbox, if we’re judging this LinkedIn job listing correctly.
While it doesn’t mention Lionhead by name, it mentions it is a “major renowned studio in the UK” with “one of the most enivable [reputations] in the games industry” that has “shipped multiple titles in the past decade that have consistently been critically acclaimed.” The studio is known “for it’s commitment to developing titles that are deep in the game play offered to players, and very rich in content.”
The listing includes positions for a database programmer, server programmer, animation programmer, and others, some of which are also listed on Lionhead’s official website.
According to the listing, the game will have a “complex progression system, multiple routes through the campaign, and an MMO like multiplayer experience that will affect the outcome of the player experience, and many other attributes surrounding their [the studio’s] profile (such as the environment and the outcome of certain actions).”
The project is a “major brand new IP that is being targeted for the future generation of platforms and will be an RPG based game with a radical new take on how co-operative and multiplayer gameplay feeds into the experience, while blending online and single player into one complete experience.”
They call it a “really huge and ambitious online/offline adventure game.”
When reached for comment, Lionhead told Kotaku: “Lionhead is in the business of making great games. We regularly look to hire great individuals to help in this cause. We have no further details to share at this time.”
