Microsoft’s E3 showcase to focus on services
"Expect a lot of dashboard, interface, multimedia."

Microsoft will focus less on games and more on Xbox LIVE services at E3 next month, Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter was told during a visit to the company.

“They told me don’t expect a lot of game stuff, expect a lot of dashboard, interface, multimedia,” said Pachter on the ‘Microsoft E3 2012 Preview‘ of GameTrailer.com’s Bonus Round.

Microsoft will host its E3 media briefing on June 4 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern. You can watch it live on Spike TV or through Xbox LIVE.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

““They told me don’t expect a lot of game stuff, expect a lot of dashboard, interface, multimedia,”” Ugh……

@Kougeru: Yeah, agreed. What a joke.

SMH, why? Why focus less on the games, and more on dashboard, interface, multimedia etc.? Its the “games” that make the system and this is why microsoft is failing so hard.

    Wow how stupid….

And yet for some reason my country (America) will still support the 360 every month. They have been doing this for the last couple years at E3 and generally. I have no idea why its so hard for people to realize that Microsoft does NOT want to be in the game’s business and are doing everything they can to kill traditional gaming.

Hell I used to own an Xbox when the focus was actually on the games but right around the time my first Xbox red ringed, Microsoft lost me as a consumer not specifically because of the RROD but because Microsoft was trying to monetize every cent they could and was trying to justify raising the price of Live (which you shouldn’t have to be charged to play online anyway) for “services” that I never asked for.

Well, guess I’ll be skipping MS’s E3 showcase this year then. Better to know this beforehand, rather than spending an hour and an half sitting through all that when the times comes.

  • KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler

-_- again?Didnt they do this crap last year?

  • hush404

*rolls eyes. Be like last E3 huh?

Please defend this now. I’d love to hear the excuses for why this is acceptable.
MS is a fecking cancer and so are the idiots that continue to throw money at them.

Oh wow. What a… MILD inconvenience./Yawn

If you’re a MS fan best not miss E3 b/c with all these new services u might be surprised to see Live go up to $70 lol

Also its no wonder they’re not focused on games b/c MS has no talented devs. They’ve not created one new major IP this gen! Sony on the other hand has made quite few and r continuing do so.

Bad news for gamers, very disappointing but not unexpected. Look at the past 2 years, their E3 was basically kinect and services. Which suck.

    ^truth.

I bet locksus and dgm09 are gonna email Sal about this.

  • KingOptimus111

Im gonna skip microsoft showcase and just watch Sony, EA, Ubisoft, & Nintendo becuase this is just ridicously stupid they want us to sit through advertisments and kinect with that don mattrick smiling retarted through out the show. This is a game convention show some fucking games already microsoft.

  • Skelter

I’m disappointed to see this…..they can always upload videos on xbox live to talk about new media….if you’re gonna go to E3…..go with the goods….aka GAMES

  • Nasuno

looks like we do need new systems cause the 360 is so old it kinda forgot it was a games console down the line.

  • FearMonkey

Regardless of what Pachter says, they’re gonna have to show some games. How else will Activision earn their moneyhat?

  • BizarreJelly

While I hate that this means pushing games to the back in favour of media services getting spotlight I can see why they’re doing it. Ever since all these apps got added alot of people are buying 360′s to make use of stuff like Netflix and the other media apps.

    • Skelter

@BizarreJelly: 360= catering to the media-addicts Wii= catering to the kids Ps3= catering to the Japanese……..come ON! lol
