Square Enix has confirmed a worldwide November 20 release for Hitman: Absolution on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Hitman: Sniper Challenge, a standalone download title exclusive to pre-orders worldwide, will launch for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Tuesday, May 15. A Steam version will be made available on August 1.
In the U.S., Sniper Challenge will be available through reservation only at GameStop.
The game is set upon a balcony in Chicago. As Agent 47, players are tasked with assassinating Stallion Armaments CEO Richard Strong Junior and his entire staff of bodyguards. He will arrive at a rooftop party via helicopter, and players are given 15 minutes to finish the job. Expect score multiplayers, secret extras, and unlockable equipment upgrades. Leaderboards will track the players’ resulting score.
The Kazo TRG sniper rifle and “a host of other upgrades” can be unlocked and carried over into Hitman: Absolution.
“Agent 47 is the best in the business so it seemed appropriate to create the best pre-order reward possible for our fans,” said Jon Brooke, Brand Director of the Hitman Franchise. “Hitman: Sniper Challenge is a way of thanking customers and giving them a taste of Agent 47’s skills from the moment they pre-order the game.”
