Grand Knights History localization cancelled

Lack of development resources cited.

VanillaWare’s Grand Knights History, launched September last year in Japan, will not arrive in North America as initially planned, XSEED Games has said in a statement.

“XSEED Games has confirmed it will not publish Grand Knights History in North America as previously announced,” said the publisher. “Unfortunately, it was determined that development resources required to localize the game were not available, necessitating its cancellation. We regret not being able to bring the game to our fans, but we are committed to our 2012 lineup and look forward to sharing more on these games in the coming weeks and months.”

Grand Knights History was announced for release in Europe by Rising Star Games. We can only presume that a lack of “development resources” means cancellation in European territories, as well.

I am really depressed right now. Need to eat copious amounts of ice cream to cope with my sadness. :(

  • RyoonZ

Great XSeed, maybe its time to say goodbye to you guys.

    • FearMonkey

@RyoonZ: It’s probably not their fault. Most of the Vanillaware staff is working on Dragon’s Crown so they don’t have time to work on the localization supposedly.

    • Byronic Hero

@RyoonZ: No. Not till they give us:
      Trails in the Sky Second
      Trails in the Sky 3rd
      Trails in the Blue
      Trails in the Zero
      Trails in the Nayuta
Trails in the Sky vs Ys

      So yeah.

@Byronic Hero: And all of those games will be digital download only or maybe we won’t see them at all. I don’t know they just lose their awesomeness with their recent announcement.

  • Akira

I don’t think we’re ever going to get Trails in the Sky vs Ys.

  • Genesis

I remember them saying that they couldn’t proceed with the localization without Vanillaware. They even said that they are wrapped up Dragon’s Crown. Well hopefully they have time to jump back on this again :)

No hard feelings XSEED. You tried your best :)

I know a little company called ATLUS who has been picking up lost lambs like this…

    • narutomaki

@whiteferrero: yea but this isn’t Xseeds fault, Vanillaware didn’t give Xseed the required resources to localize it

There’s always hope. ValendiaKnight did a partial translation over at GameFaqs. It’s time we came together and made this happened.

Anyone know if this is import friendly?

    • FearMonkey

@FearMonkey: Apparently the online portion of the game is IP locked for regions outside Japan. /answers own question

      :(

Euro people, I e-mailed Rising Star about this. Once I get confirmation about the status of the Euro version, I’ll let you all know.
