Robert Bowling opens Robotoki
Former Call of Duty strategist launches new studio.Robert Bowling, former Call of Duty creative strategist, has opened a new game development studio called Robotoki. It is “a developer development studio that just happens to make games,” Bowling told Game Informer.
A completely self-funded and independent venture, Robotoki aims to “create an environment where the creative vision holders [hold] complete control over their work and could guide and maintain it from concept to execution.” It will only partner with those who support its model.
Robotoki is already underway with its first project, which will be revealed for next-generation consoles, PC, and mobile devices later this year.
“With focus being on universe, we aim to create experiences that transcend platforms and genres and allow our players to connect to our world, their characters, and gameplay via any medium (console, PC, or mobile),” said Bowling.
Robotoki will create experiences unique to each device. Bowling believes the mobile experience should be crafted to the mobile device, and not additive to the console and PC experience.
“Our focus is creating an experience that is no longer strictly single player, strictly co-op, or strictly multiplayer, but adapting the strengths of each of these into a unique experience that is fueled by the actions and contributions in each.”
