Play "Somnus," amongst other songs, on April 4.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII may not be coming to 3DS, but one of its compositions is. On April 4, Square Enix will release Final Fantasy Versus XIII‘s “Somnus” for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy as a field music stage.

Listen to a sample below.

Additionally, three more Final Fantasy songs will be released on the same day.

Final Fantasy II‘s “Magician’s Tower” (Field Music Stage)

Final Fantasy VI‘s “Battle” (Battle Music Stage)

Final Fantasy IX‘s “Dark Messenger” (Battle Music Stage)

Theatryhthm Final Fantasy is currently available for 3DS in Japan. It is scheduled to launch in North America and Europe this summer.

Thanks, Square Enix (via FF-Reunion).

such a beautiful song in that trailer…too bad about the release date………

If Square puts a Versus XIII song in another game, that mean it has to actually release it at one point, right?

    RIGHT?

    • FinalFantasy_fangirl

      @Sal Romano:

Thats right Sal.. Lets think positive!

@Sal Romano: That awkward moment when you realize this is the closest thing you will ever get to actually playing the game.

It would be epic if this is one of those april fools prank

F*ing ridiculous. Unless Square actually announces Vs. news this week, this is beyond stupid.

    • Sal Romano

@anime10121: Good thought. Maybe – JUST MAYBE – that’s what this is all about.

      But it’s probably not. :(

Off-topic, but sort of on: I just realized I’ve been depriving you guys (or saving you guys – I don’t know, is this game good?) of Theatrhythm news. I’ll be sure to keep you updated in the future.

@Sal Romano: do tell sal! i love me rhythm games, and an ff themed one seems that something that i’d like.

I’ve seen a few trailers and it seems the field stages are usually easy as they are slower songs, and opposite for the battle. Saw one for battle at the big bridge and damn it was fast!

@Sal Romano: Cool because now that its been announced for America, I’ll definitely be paying more attention to Theatrythm.

    So short :/
Hope E3 or TGS will update more news of Versus.

Som…nus? I think I remember listening to this song like six years ago, when some FF game was announced. Can’t remember which game was that, for the life of me.

In all seriousness, I’m diggin the DLC songs. Dark Messenger for FF IX, good good!

Also, to all of you wishing and hoping for Versus news soon: you really shouldn’t get your hopes up so not to feel disappointed, that’s what I always do about this game. I think that if we really stop caring about it, SE will actually realize it’s about time to market their shit properly. Right now, they have us where they want. They can keep teasing us with a carrot on top of a stick.

    Nice music.

I hope the new engine Square-Enix has been developing is finished, so they can finally complete Versus. Hopefully before this year is over.

I’m excited to see what they have to show in the next few months, it should give us a good idea of how far along development is.

I just hope this new engine is worth the time and money they have put into it. If crystal tools had been better, the game would have been out already.

I think SE should have known mentioning the game as Theatrhythm DLC was going to cause an uproar.

These days, any article with Square-Enix in the name turns into something about Versus. Even when the article itself has nothing to do with Versus.

I love that song. Yoko Shimomura is a brilliant composer
