Tales of Xillia trademarked in Europe

Next Tales localization underway?

Namco Bandai has filed a trademark for Tales of Xillia in Europe. The mark was pushed two days ago – on March 20.

Last week, the publisher released Tales of Graces F in North America. Graces F originally launched in Japan in December 2010. Xillia, however, is the latest entry in the series, and was released in September last year.

Tales of Xillia is the first in the Tales series to feature two lead protagonists, Milla Maxwell and Jude Mathis. The game was released on PlayStation 3.

Hopefully, the trademark is a hint at Namco Bandai’s localization of the title. The publisher is holding a press event next month, similar to its Dubai press event last year where Soulcalibur V was announced. If anything, we might hear about it there.

Thanks, Siliconera.

    Is this a action rpg?

    • whiteferrero

@KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler: never play a tales game before?

it’s basically an rpg. but the battles are action oriented.

      • KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler

@whiteferrero: ….Yeah I think this will be my first.

  • Buzenbazen

Glad they are thinking of releasing more tales games outside of japan! even if xillia is quite bleh

    • Skelter

@Buzenbazen: About that, does Xillia’s Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System allow you to chain your combos as well as Graces’(Graces F) Style-Shift Linear Motion Battle System?

      • Buzenbazen

        @Skelter:

On normal mobs, yes you can chain your combos quite well and easy like on ToGf, however when it comes to bosses its pretty much impossible to chain since all of them have a ”break” out move at like 9 hits.. it’s that thing that draws the game down a lot, the bosses are just annoying imo

  • Malcolm Reynolds

Day 1 import. I care not if it hits the US as long as a version with English exists I will buy it.

  • Jackle

I’m going to be cautiously optimistic as this could just be a protective trademark.

    • AdamBoy64

@Jackle: Far, far more than likely. Namco have filed a lot of Tales trademarks for no other reason than to protect their IP.

I think ‘Tales of Hearts’ was their most recent trademark.

  • Genesis

Oh yesss! Give me more Tales! I can’t get enough of Graces F already

  • http://blogeadorsolar.blogspot.com Palitococo

I think that judging by Tales of Grace F NA opening week its pretty plausible that Namco has motivated to release Xilia.

    • RedWolfe

@Palitococo: Care to share the figures?

    • AdamBoy64

@Palitococo: Yeah, I would also love to see the figures if you have them.

      • whiteferrero

@AdamBoy64: Same request. Though from my difficulty in getting the game on first week, I’m am guessing that either it sold well, or shipped low. either way, it went nicely.

  • Pirate King

Looks like if they dont get their act together and Localize it here, I’ll be importing the UK version.

  • NCloud

Yeah, for once EU isn’t getting screwed.

  • FearMonkey

I will buy it at a high price.

(or $39.99 if Amazon screws up the pricing again)

THIS IS REALLY GREAT NEWS OMG OMG OMG

  • http://www.youtube.com/tezchi TezChi

This is exactly the news I wanted to hear!

  • Blackmage456

excellent, all according to plan :)

  • FinalFantasy_fangirl

Fantastic news… This makes me happy. I was worried after the rumor of tales of innocence r coming to vita and nothing about Xillia.

  • weyou

Hopefully, Tales of Graces F will hit $20 when Tales of Xillia releases. According to my plan.

  • AdamBoy64

Tales Games in the West have followed about a 2-3 year cycle.
Symphonia was 2004, Abyss was 2006, Vesperia was 2008, Graces was 2012.

Not wanting to be a wet blanket – but I think any possible Xillia release earlier than 2014 is a bit too optimistic.

    • Sal Romano

      @AdamBoy64: But you forgot Legendia!

Legendia: Feb 2006. Abysss: October 2006.

I’d say Xillia in 2013 is very possible. Or maybe even October 2012! (I kid, I kid. But that’d be nice, right?)

      • AdamBoy64

@Sal Romano: Yeah, that’s true – that was made by a different studio other than the Namco Tales Studio.

Also, I should note that the reason we got Vesperia so soon after Japan (and so soon after our Abyss release) was because they did the English voice work and localising side by side with the games production.

I hope that happens again with the next Tales game..
That’s probably a bit of wishful thinking though.

    • Kougeru

@AdamBoy64: which is pretty hilarious honestly. There is a lot of text and such but with the work of a few translators they could have it done in less than 1 year if they wanted..

  • FaithlessMr

I really don’t want to get my hopes up but….damn, it’s impossible not to. So stoked for this!

  • talesoffan

I could see Xillia announced. I mean it’s the highest selling Tales game in a long time. Also, Vgchartz has Graces f at 127,000 first week.

    • L_kira

@talesoffan: I suppose that’s a good thing right? 127k in a week? Anyway, I love how this site loves Tales series more than, say…pancakes. Here’s hoping for a localization. A day 1. Just like my ToG:F.
