Welcome to Pittsburgh!

Game Informer went live tonight with three exclusive screenshots of The Last of Us, new details accompanying each.

See that bridge? It’s the Fort Duquesne Bridge. Joel and Ellie are in Pittsburgh, in this image.

The Last of Us is no ‘escort mission.’ Ellie will fight for herself, stay out of the way when necessary, and keep up with Joel.

Players will utilize both gunplay and melee combat. Weapons don’t come by easy – they will break after constant use, so scavenging for items is a necessity.

    Looks insane D8

Another gem on my list. I am pretty bummed that Ellie isn’t playable :(

Holy crap. Look at the lighting on those two. Godly graphics.

    Looks free roam. Cool

I’m just wondering if this game is free roaming or does it have more of a Jak & Daxter formula and how the game even advances if it’s just free roam. I’m still confused what we’re supposed to expect from this game. I was happier when we saw Uncharted and we more or less were told what to expect when we saw more after the first reveal.

@rockman29: I think this is about as specific as Naughty Dog’s gotten on that front:

“Exploration is a prime factor, as well, but risks are involved. You may walk into a cafe only to be confronted. That said, the game isn’t as linear as Uncharted, but as it’s still story-driven, don’t expect an open-world, either.”
