Killzone 3 standalone multiplayer coming to PSN
Download it free, next week.

Killzone 3‘s multiplayer component will come to the PlayStation Store next week as a standalone release, the latest PlayStation Blogcast has revealed.

Consumers will be able to download the multiplayer – which includes all maps – free of charge. The only catch: there is a level-cap if you stay free. Full multiplayer can be unlocked for $14.99 – not a bad price to consider if you’re the type that purchases shooters solely for multiplayer.

Can you think of any other games that would benefit from this type of release?

Thanks, NeoGAF.

That’s an _awesome_ idea. I love KZ3′s multiplayer even though I don’t usually play MP. I especially like the “operation” mode or whatever it was called, where you have objectives. I played it with bots for a long time. Good move (which reminds me, PS Move works great in this game)!

After the AT&T fiasco that bugged me (free PSN game comes after a month, free month of 3G is the second month) this is some good news.

    Definitely agree, good idea.

    This is an interesting model.

Would like to see more developers expand on this.

I can’t see it ever coming in at that good of a price but I think battlefield could benefit from something like this. I will be purchasing this and mass effect 3 collectors bundle no doubt.
