Journey release date set

Your journey begins in March.

February 16, 2012 / 10:16 AM EDT / (@salromano)

If Japan was any indication, you knew it was coming soon, but now we’ve got a final date. Journey, thatgamecompany’s latest creation, will launch for PlayStation Network on March 13, 2012 for $14.99 in North America, and on March 14 in Europe.

Like Flower, thatgamecompany’s latest release (launched three years ago), Journey will be a part of this year’s Spring Fever event on the PlayStation Store.

According to thatgamecompany, Journey “is an interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person’s life passage and their intersections with other’s.” After you awaken in a vast, burning desert, you look to the far distance and see a mountaintop – a beam of light shining upon it. Your goal is to get there, “but the experience along the way is discovering who you are, what this place is, and what your purpose is.”

If you haven’t already seen it, watch a trailer for Journey below:

@Charlie: Oh okay, downloaded the beta back when it was available but I sadly just never got the chance to actually play it.:(

Such a simple concept, yet it’s just so mesmerising. Oh and the music just makes me wanna burst out in tears.

@Charlie: Yup, I had huge fun with the beta so I’m very much looking forward to this. Hopefully riding the ‘living scarf’ creatures is a big part of the game. ^_^

I hope Sony and the developer are thinking of this game as a candidate for a Vita port. It seems appropriate.
