3DS sales top 5 million in Japan

Nintendo handheld breaks internal records.

Nintendo 3DS has broken Nintendo sales records in Japan, topping 5 million units sold in just 51 weeks.

For comparison, Gameboy Advance broke 5 million in 58 weeks, the DS in 56 weeks, and the Wii was at just under 4 million in 52 weeks.

3DS turns a year old in Japan on February 26.
