Following a small tease last month, an interview this week’s Famitsu has revealed exactly how Lightning will come to Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Lightning will first be available as a coliseum character. Defeat her, and she’ll join your group as a third party member (completely contradicting the story, yah?). Square Enix is also planning to release secret story episodes featuring Lightning.
The publisher hopes to expand the game’s story beyond downloadable content. They wish to touch on characters such as Sazh, Dajh, and Chocolina in both downloadable content and books.
Separate from Final Fantasy XIII-2, Square Enix briefly mentions Final Fantasy X HD. We’ll have to wait a bit longer for screenshots, but they hope development time doesn’t end up very long.

Well, those who said they’d like having a third human character as a party member should be happy with this :D I love it, personally.
Now I just hope they price this right. I’m still not happy with episodic DLC and whatanot, but it boils down to how much they’re making us pay for all of that in the end I guess.
@FaithlessMr: If any game company now days uses and abuses of DLCs, why Square Enix needs to be different? I support all the DLCs that they are doing and also hope only for a good price.
Nice to see we’ll at least get to play as Lightning. Hopefully they’ll do more characters, like maybe play as Snow after he went to search for Lightning.
Hell yeah. I would like to play as her in both FFXIII costume and FFXIII-2 costume. Lightning looks beautiful either way.
I just only hope that the DLC is not expensive…

i think Lightning is gonna be like a monster or human recruit like Omega, since they are both only available in the coliseum,

my friend in japan said it took 15-20min to beat Omega in coliseum and once recruited, Omega is designated in Commando role in party, and im pretty guessing sure that once Lightning is recruited she’s gonna be designated as Ravager role in party, since this is Lightning from FFXIII.

Good!! SE should create a pass like Rockstar did for L.A. Noire. I love getting dlc for single player games.
So if I’m importing the asian version so I can play with the Japanese language track, how do I get all this DLC? :(

I wonder if you can only unlock her as a character after finishing the game? That would at least make sense to me.
I haven’t played the game obviously, so I’m not sure what happens with her in the story.

Don’t take my word for it just yet, but I believe you can’t unlock the Colisseum until after you finish the game, which means it impossible to fight her/recruit her until then.
