"Original cinematic puzzle platformer" for XBLA.

Tequila Works, a Madrid-based independent developer founded in 2009, announced today in collaboration with Microsoft Studios a new title for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Deadlight is an “original cinematic puzzle platformer” set in an apocalyptic world “where there is no reason to exist.” The press release mentions ‘a man crossing the American west coast’ (the player character, I’m guessing) and survival being “much more than a daily routine.”

Tequila Works’ team is comprised of developers who’ve been credited in Diablo III, Heavy Rain, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and other notable game titles.

Raul Rubio, CEO and creative director of the studio, said, “our philosophy is to create tasteful things. Our team integrates highly experienced people who still keep the ability to see the world with amazement every day, and enjoy challenging their creative talents.

“Being published by Microsoft Studios, one of the world’s largest publishers, is a true reward for all the team hard work. The opportunity to work with first-party publisher Microsoft Studios is a dream come true, and shows their commitment in the talent of small independent studios.

“XBLA is the perfect platform for unique AAA bets with a character of their own. We want to create something truly special for Xbox 360.”

Chairwoman Luz Sancho added, “Since our first conversations, Microsoft Studios understood Tequila Works spirit and our attention to detail. They believe in us and the way we create.”

  1. MS may be weak in the retail exclusive front, but damn do they do work in the arcade market.

Gotta say I’m a bit surprised. Two new arcade games announced in one day?
