BioShock Infinite will feature a mode of play designed specifically for old school gamers. 1999 Mode will feature “demanding weapon, power, and health management,” require players to “sweat out the results of their actions,” and “pick specializations, and focus on them.”
If you die in 1999 Mode and lack the proper resources to be brought back to life, you’ll be taken directly to a “Game Over” screen. “It’s not for the faint of heart,” according to developer Irrational Games.
BioShock Infinite will release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC this year.
