The final tale is told in February.

Nintendo will release The Last Story, the latest role-playing game from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, for Wii in Europe on February 24, 2012, it’s announced.

The game puts players in control of Zael and his band of mercenaries, in search of fortune, as you take on a series of missions, explore Lazulis Island, and help Zael achieve his ultimate goal of leaving the mercenary life to become a knight.

The game boasts extensive character and item customization, online multiplayer modes – including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Co-Op – an innovative combat system that mixes traditional melee, ranged and magic attacks, and more.

A U.S. release has not yet been announced.

    Awesome :D Can’t wait! Now all we need is a date for Pandora’s Tower.

    February? February 2012 will go down in history as the month of rpgs :x With FF XIII 2, ni no ku ni, Tales of Graces F, Mass Effect 3 and other rpgs being released around that time.

    And I do need to get me a Wii meanwhile :x

    Bad timing.

    First of all, I’m really glad we’re finally getting this… Time to dust off the Wii (Zelda, Xeno, Last Story… nice).

    Second, am I the only one thinking that every RPG set for those months (Feb/Mar) will tank except FF13-2 and ME3?

    I mean, seriously, what’s the decision process behind setting these dates? Would April/May be too late? Or do you guys think it’s more of a fiscal year/quarter type of thing?

      @Devoted:
      I really hope all these games succed, at least to a certain degree though….It’s bad that they keep pushing them all back to Feb/March, but I expect some of these to be delayed.

        @FaithlessMr: Don’t misunderstand me: I *want* these games to succeed, too.

        I just think it’s a terrible decision, moreso when some of those game had sales below the expected number in Japan and were brought over to “test the waters” (Tales) and/or after many fan requests (Last Story).

        I just think that doing this in a two-month period with other big RPGs lauching is a bad move.

        It’s like lauching an aspiring FPS in the same month as Battlefield or Modern Warfare. |:

          @Devoted:
          Abyss did sold out pratically everywhere two weeks after it’s release :P So the same could happen with Graces F.

          But yeah, it’s a really dumb move on their part indeed, unless there’s a bigger reason for them to do so.

          • Devoted

            @FaithlessMr: Abyss for 3DS, and it didn’t come out with heavy RPG competition on the same platform… :p

            The only bigger reason I can think of is so that it’s the same fiscal quarter… I’m not sure if every company’s fiscal year ends in March, so it could be earnings report-related…

  • IsleyOfTheNorth

    Zael? Im 90% sure his name is Elza…

    • FaithlessMr

      @IsleyOfTheNorth:
      It was in the original, Japanese version. Chances are the translation team decided to change the name. It happens frequently.
