Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is not part of the Metal Gear Solid series, thus the absence of “Solid” from the title. It’s a spinoff action game. If you want a new stealth-focused entry in the Metal Gear Solid series, Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima suggests you wait for a true sequel.
“For those that hope for a stealth style MGS, this will definitely appear at some point, so please wait for a true sequel,” Kojima wrote on Twitter.
In other news, Kojima and PlatinumGames‘ Atsushi Inaba have been in Los Angeles all day previewing the game for the press. At the Video Game Awards, Kojima wore a shirt with the Japanese kanji for “Rai,” or thunder, and Inaba wore a shirt with the kanji for “Den,” or light. Together, they made “Raiden.” Today, they are both wearing “Raiden.” According to Kojima, these are only two of these custom made shirts in the world.
As of three hours ago, Kojima was heading to Konami‘s U.S. offices for a CNN interview.
Update: Hideo Kojima’s English account got around to officially translating his initial Japanese tweet.
“Our ex-RISING also were aiming at feel good action w/ protagonist, Raiden as a Spin-off, not MGS & such concept was shared w/ New RISING by P*. For those of you desire for authentic stealth MGS, I want you to patiently wait for the sequel coming in future,” he said.
The English tweet makes it sound as if plans for a Metal Gear Solid sequel are more far along than we might’ve thought.
