The latest in the Assassin’s Creed franchise has yet to hit shelves, but that didn’t stop Ubisoft from teasing the next entry during its earnings call today.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed a “great full-fledged” Assassin’s Creed sequel is in development for release in 2012. It’s reportedly a major development, with details planned for sharing in the coming months.

“There will be another great full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title next year,” said Guillemot. “It will be another major release and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months.”

The latest entry, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, is due for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 15, and on PC on November 29.

Thanks, Miladesn.

    tehy’re turning this into a yearly never-ending franchise…and I hate that. It stared off so great with 1 and 2 but now it definitely seems they’re milking it

      @Kougeru:
      I think the final AC is AC III with Desmond Miles as a main character in November 2012.
      Do you think Ubisoft will make AC IV ?……

    I like Assassin’s Creed series, but it is about time for Desmond to shine in Assassin’s Creed III instead of relieving another Assassin’s memories again. Desmond has all the necessary skills, and it is time for him to take down the modern Templars.

    I really love the series and everything about it, but I do hope it doesn’t turn into another Call of Duty, where the exact same game is put our every year. I think a year off, and then a new setting/assassin would do wonders.

    I hope its a new assassin, a sexy female assassin :P
