In other news: Sony announces 'Only on PSN' initiative.Sony announced the launch of its new “Only on PlayStation Network” initiative today. Starting October 4, every Tuesday in the month will see the release of new PlayStation Network exclusives–including PS2 games.
Mentioned in the release are Pub Fund titles like Eufloria and Okabus, and first-party titles like inFAMOUS 2: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller. A selection of “rare classic games,” including God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere, and Ring of Red, will become available tomorrow.
According to a NeoGAF poster familiar with the new PS2 initiative, the re-releases are straight ports. They’re not remastered, there isn’t button mapping, and there aren’t any trophies.
PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a 20 percent discount during launch week of each “Only on PlayStation Network” title. Those who spend $60 or more by the end of the month will be awarded $10 in PlayStation Store credit. Purchases aren’t limited to “Only on PlayStation Network” games; you can amass $60 or more by purchasing games, add-ons, movie–anything on the PlayStation Store.
“‘Only On PlayStation Network’ is our line of great exclusive games that users can count on to deliver exciting game experiences that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Susan Panico, senior director of PlayStation Network, SCEA. “This strong initial content offering, combined with the day one discounts for PlayStation Plus subscribers and the ‘Spend $60, Get $10 Back’ promotion, makes PlayStation Network the premier destination for digital content.”
